**Job Description**:
***:Under the general supervision of the Supervisor Arenas & Stadia Operations and the technical direction and guidance of the Leadhand Arenas & Stadia Operations, is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the assigned Arena and Stadia.
**MAJOR TASKS**:
- Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks for the Arena’s and Stadia maintenance programs.
- Enforces policies with respect to ice and facility usage.
- Prepares and maintains the ice plan, ice surface and associated equipment; monitors and logs gauge readings for the refrigeration plant and ice surface as directed.
- Ensures that ice plant systems operate in accordance with mandated requirements.
- Provides initial response to calls for service; assesses maintenance needs and takes corrective action or initiates work orders for appropriate support and ensures timely completion.
- Maintains accurate log books for snow clearing, accident reporting, ice cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Participates in the set-up and take-down of stages and equipment during special events
- Assists with the coordination of maintenance and renovations of arena facilities as directed.
- Performs daily checks of HVAC, ice resurfacing, and refrigeration equipment and reports any issues found.
- Performs daily work orders as assigned, utilizing the computerized maintenance software information system, as directed.
- Performs custodial tasks within facilities and grounds as assigned.
- Keeps walkways, driveways, and grounds clean of snow and debris as assigned.
- Performs facility maintenance as assigned.
- Follows established policies and procedures.
- Handles payments for ice rentals, as directed.
- Performs such related duties as may be assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/ Experience**:
- Grade 12 education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
**Skills/Abilities**:
- Must be capable of reporting, both in writing and verbally, on mechanical system conditions and/or problems
- Must be capable of issuing, reporting and accurately comprehending written/oral information and instructions
- Must be tactful and courteous with the public
- Must be reliable and have the ability to work with minimum supervision
- Must be at a basic skill level in word processing and spreadsheet software
- Must be competent within of the _Occupational Health & Safety _Act_
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario Drivers Licence, or equivalent
- Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:
- Must obtain basic refrigeration certification within six months of hire
- Must demonstrate understanding of the operation of the refrigeration plant within the probationary period
- Will be required to work shift work Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
- Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
- May be required to provide a successful driver’s record (uncertified)
