**Job Title**: Academic Assistant

**Location**: 33 City Centre Dr. Suite 240, Mississauga, L5B 2N5

**Reports to**: Principal or Department Head

**Job Overview**:
The Academic Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the educational process by assisting teachers with classroom management, providing academic support to students, and helping to facilitate a positive learning environment. This role involves working closely with teachers, students, and occasionally with parents to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed academically.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Assist teachers with preparing instructional materials and setting up classroom activities.
- Support teachers in managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, exams, and field trips.
- Assist students with completing assignments, projects, and preparing for exams.
- Monitor and track students' academic progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
- Help with grading assignments, organizing student records, and maintaining classroom supplies.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, correspondence, and other documentation as required by teachers or administrators.
- Coordinate and manage scheduling for tutoring sessions, extra help classes, and other academic support initiatives.
- Participate in school events, activities, and extracurricular programs to support students' holistic development.
- Serve as a mentor or advisor for student clubs or organizations, if applicable.
- Maintain open and effective communication with teachers, students, and parents to ensure students' needs are being met.
- Collaborate with other academic assistants and school staff to share best practices and strategies for student support.

**Qualifications**:

- A diploma or degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in an educational setting, preferably at the secondary school level.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students achieve their academic goals.

**Work Schedule**:

- Full-time or part-time, depending on the school's requirements. Occasional evenings or weekends may be required for school events.

**Compensation**:

- Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 20 per week
