Psychology Laboratory Instructor & WIL Coordinator

The Psychology Laboratory Instructor and Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Coordinator role focuses on
providing laboratory and seminar instruction for selected courses (cognitive, behavioural, neuroscience
domains, research methods and statistics, senior psychology research seminar) all under the supervision of
for students experiencing difficulties with psychology laboratory projects and research activities. They will
coordinate and supervise psychology students work integrated learning experiences during the academic year
and over the summer as well as develop external relationships to support work integrated learning and
research.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

Provide operational support for laboratory and research seminar courses in the psychology department
- Laboratory teaching that supports the outcomes of the course as identified by the course instructor.

Such teaching duties include lab instruction, assisting students with equipment/software, running
tutorial sessions, scheduling office hours, setting up and updating course LMS and marking.
- Develop and maintain innovative laboratory projects that support the pedagogical goals of the BSc

Psychology program.
- Teaching load equivalent of 3 laboratories per term (Fall/Winter) or 2 laboratories and a lecture

depending on the needs of the department and the qualifications of the incumbent.
- Maintain and monitor the psychology laboratory spaces and equipment.
- Coordinate with information technology to ensure all laboratory and research computers have up-to
- date software and sufficient licensing to accommodate department teaching and research needs.
- Supervision of undergraduate student assistants who are appointed to assist the instructor with

laboratory preparation, teaching, and cleanup.
- Support Departmental Research Activities _
- Provide research coordination support to psychology student research projects
- Provide methodological and statistical training and support to students
- Work Integrated Learning _
- Coordinate and supervise psychology work integrated learning/internships over the academic term

and summer including registration oversight; grading of proposals, reports, end of term presentations
and weekly logbooks; communicating with external supervisors as necessary; and maintaining course
LMS.

**QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Psychology required; M.Sc. preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a team.
- Competence in research methods and statistical techniques. Priority is quantitative skill but some
- basic additional skill with qualitative data analysis and qualitative software (NVivo) is an advantage.
- Experience with statistical software programs.
- Laboratory teaching experience is preferred.
- Experience with research coordination; Experience supervising student research would be an asset.
- Experience with managing work-integrated learning/internships would be an asset.

The King’s University follows a standardized salary grid. The salary range is $59,000 - $75,064/yr dependent on
