Continuous Instructor, Millwork and Carpentry

**Please Note: This posting will be used to fill two positions.
In the Millwork and Carpentry program, students gain hands-on skills in the design and construction of wood structures, cabinets, shelving units and furniture. This certificate program explores the two traditional woodworking trades of **Cabinetmaker** and **Carpenter**, with an emphasis on tools and safety.

The program is currently recruiting continuous instructors who are energetic leaders, committed to student success, and have outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry setting
- Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews
- Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials
- Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
- Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records
- Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention
- Respond to student issues
- Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions
- Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly
- Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners
- Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT’s Strategic Plan and NAIT’s Academic Plan as identified by the institute
- Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
- Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- High School Diploma
- Completion of a Cabinetmaker Journeyperson certificate, and Inter-Provincial Red Seal required
- Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson ticket
- Teaching experience an asset

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).

**Remuneration**: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Instructor salary grid $65,218.00 - $113,452.00 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78,998.00 - $85,889.00 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification - Instructor).
- This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement_
