**Job description**

The Outreach & Support Worker - Migrant Workers (Whistler) (OSW-MW), Whistler provides guidance and support to migrant temporary foreign workers (TFWs) in relation to their workplace rights, responsibilities, challenges and working environment. This position connects with migrant workers and employers of migrant workers to provide orientation on Canadian workplace and employer rights and responsibilities as well as supporting TFWs who are experiencing challenges in the workplace. The OSW-MW actively advocates for and works to build greater equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Specific responsibilities include:

- Connect with TFWs outside their workplaces to ensure confidentiality and a safe connection.
- Support clients in dealings with employers and assist clients in filing appeals and complaints, requests for visa changes etc.
- Provide information, orientation, and support to TFWs on workplace rights and responsibilities.
- Provide information, orientation, and support to employers of TFWs on the requirements of the migrant worker program.
- Provide referrals for TFWs to general settlement services in close partnership with the Whistler Welcome Centre and settlement workers
- Identify TFW needs and priorities for workplace support and education and establish a communication route to employers to improve the TFW experience
- Design and deliver community connections activities for TFWs to improve their experience of living and working in Canada
- Maintain client records, program statistics, and reports and provide regular updates to the Executive Director / the Program Manager / the funder, as required.
- Participate in staff meetings, and professional development/training.

**Qualifications**

**Existing skills appreciated**:

- Computer and numeracy; Outlook, Excel, Word, social media tools, and adaptability to new technologies
- Ability to communicate well in spoken and written English
- Fluency in a second language and lived experience of the immigration process
- Good organization, time management, and strong problem-solving skills
- Effective interpersonal and intercultural communication, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of Whistler temporary foreign worker and employer communities, and an understanding of employment standards
- Ability to work effectively with other professionals and partners in the community
- Ability to work with individuals and communities suffering from discrimination, racism, and culture shock
- Ability to maintain records, statistics and all required documentation and to provide reports on activities as required

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract

**Salary**: $23.85-$26.07 per hour
