Role Description
This is an internship role for a Student-at-Law with PILLAY LAW, located in Edmonton, AB As a Student-at-Law, you will be exposed to various areas of law relevant to the firm's legal practice and assist lawyers with drafting legal documents, conducting research and preparing for trials or hearings. You will also be encouraged to attend court, network with businesses and legal professionals and involve yourself in client meetings.
**Responsibilities**:
Conduct legal research and analysis to support our legal team in personal injury cases. Assist in drafting legal documents, including pleadings, affidavits, and settlement proposals. Attend court hearings, mediations, and meetings with clients to gain practical experience. Observe and later conduct questionings. Collaborate with our team on case strategy and client communication.
Qualifications:
Canadian Law Grad, or Foreign Trained Law Grad with NCA certification; Strong interest in law and a desire to pursue a career in this field. Excellent research, writing, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks. Preparing to complete a period of articles. A passion for law and contributing to the wider community, particularly through involvement in pro bono legal work. A dedication to attending continuing legal education and to life-long learning.
