The position includes advising of senior officials in
educational services, teachers and other professionals in
matters concerning the implementation, development
and evaluation of special educational programs, the
appropriate academic organization and the selection and
use of special education methods, techniques, equipment,
and teaching material.

**CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTIONS**

Collaborates in the successful completion of the
education project and of institutions’ specific projects;
participates in the elaboration, implementation and
evaluation of their plan for success while respecting the
educational and administrative frameworks at both the
institution and school board levels.

Collaborates in the implementation of special education
inclusive curriculum and training programs, counsels the
teachers and management with regard to the
interpretation of these special education programs.

Counsels and supports teachers, if needed; designs,
selects and facilitates training and instrumentation
activities for adaptation, innovation and instructional
development needs with regard to students with special
needs and learning difficulties.

Participates, if needed, with teachers in the elaboration
and implementation of strategies and projects aiming to
help students who display adjustment or learning
difficulties or who have special needs.

Provides teachers with learning evaluation tools and
guides them in the design, preparation or adaptation of
evaluation tools.

Advises the management, teaching and professional staff
on questions relating to special education staff training
programs, plans these programs and evaluates results.

Analyses and provides advice on the selection of relevant
didactic and complementary materials related to special
education.

L’emploi comporte des fonctions de conseil et de soutien
auprès des intervenantes et intervenants des
établissements scolaires et des services éducatifs
relativement à la mise en œuvre, au développement et à
l’évaluation des programmes d’études, à la gestion de
classe et à la didactique en adaptation scolaire.

**ATTRIBUTION CARACTÉRISTIQUES**

Collabore à la réalisation du projet éducatif et des projets
particuliers des établissements; participe à l’élaboration,
la mise en œuvre et l’évaluation de leur plan de réussite
tout en respectant les encadrements éducatifs et
administratifs, tant au niveau des établissements que de la
commission scolaire.

Collabore à l’implantation des programmes d’études et de
formation en adaptation scolaire reliée à l’inclusion
scolaire, conseille les enseignants et la direction
relativement à l’interprétation de ces programmes.

Conseille et soutient les enseignants, si besoin, pour
appuyer l’action quotidienne; conçoit, planifie et anime
les activités de formation reliés aux besoins d’adaptation,
d’innovation et de développement pédagogique.

Participe, si besoin, avec les enseignants à l’élaboration et
à la mise en œuvre de stratégies et de projets visant à
aider les élèves qui présentent des difficultés d’adaptation
ou d’apprentissage.

Fournit aux enseignants des outils d'évaluation des
apprentissages et les guide dans la conception, la
préparation ou l'adaptation d'outils d'évaluation.

Conseille la direction du département, le personnel
d’enseignement et d’encadrement, sur des questions
relatives aux programmes de perfectionnement du
personnel.

Analyse et recommande la sélection de matériel
d'apprentissage, de matériel supplémentaire et
d'équipement reliés à l’adaptation scolaire.

May be called upon to work with a multidisciplinary team
to draw up and review the individualized education plan
(IEP) of a handicapped student or a student with social
maladjustments or learning difficulties; he or she
participates in defining intervention objectives and
means.

Trains teachers in the development of Individual
Education Plans (IEP). Accompanies teachers in the
implementation of Individual Education Plans. Trains and
advises teachers in accomodations (pedagogical
flexibility, adaptations and modifications).

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**

A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate specialty notably in
special education.

Permanent teaching permit issued by the Minister of
Education (Brevet).

Three (3) years of experience in a similar position.

Must demonstrate strong knowledge of special eduction
strong understanding of inclusive education, and
methodology and knowledge of MEQ special eduction
programs.

English and French proficiency is required. Cree is an
asset.

Availability to travel.
