DFX Technical Services Inc. has an immediate opening for an OPE Design Manager to join and lead our fast growing team The OPE Design Manager position will lead a variety of technical, design, and GIS/CAD duties related to the design of outside plant (OSP) telecommunications projects. Duties include but are not limited to the managing of design/layout of fibre, preparation of engineering drawings, interaction with customers/developers and field audits. The role requires a highly motivated self-starter who possess the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a large cross-functional team.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Oversee, lead and manage various project scopes and key deliverables
- Manage and lead team members performing drafting, survey and designs for RF CATV and fibre networks
- Manage the utilization AutoCAD or other customer specified software to post strand mapping data, MDU designs, complete large fibre designs, node segmentations and to post fibre designs
- Support the preparation and creation of high level designs for both aerial and buried outside plant using fiber optic standards and methodology
- Responsible for ensuring key dates, milestones and benchmarks are met by internal and external resources to maintain critical project schedules and project completion deadlines for customers
- Responsible for obtaining and documenting standards of the permit granting authorities, including municipal, regional district, provincial and federal agencies, conservation authorities, railways, and gas pipeline owners, and verifying compliance to all permit requirements both in the engineering and construction of the project.
- Assign tasks, budgets, job quoting and provide support to internal resources for completion of designs. Manage and track budgetary and financial information and provide reports as requested to the Vice President
- Participate in ongoing development of design standards and methodologies to further develop design and operational efficiencies.
- Adhere to strict project budgets and client deliverable dates
- Determine method to design the plant changes with mínimal impact to the system/customer and minimize related construction cost and ensures quality of design
- Creation of Bill of Materials
- Review and QC all aspects of drafting and design
- All other duties as required

**Qualifications**: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- +3 years’ experience with producing HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coax) and FTTH/S (Fibre-to-the-home/suite) designs
- +3 years’ experience drafting in AutoCAD is preferred
- Experience leading and supervising drafting and/or design team members
- Knowledge of quoting and budgeting telecom engineering projects
- Understanding of current OSP design principles and industry standards
- Strong understanding of various municipal consent and local permitting requirements
- Experience with SpatialNet an asset
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
- Sitting at a desk for 6-8 hours a day

**Salary**: $80,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
