Bereavement Coordinator

Hospice Niagara is currently seeking a full-time, permanent **Bereavement Coordinator** to support its Children & Youth Programs**.** **Kids grieve differently than adults and it can take them longer than we expect to adapt to a significant loss in their life. Having an opportunity to connect with other kids and share personal experiences, can be helpful as they learn to cope in healthy ways with their own feelings of sadness and adjust to the loss. Through the work of the Bereavement Coordinator, children and youth in Niagara are provided with an opportunity to explore their feelings of loss in a safe and supportive space.

The Bereavement Coordinator (Children & Youth Programs) is responsible for the intake and assessment for all children and youth for Hospice Niagara’s programs and services, as well as supporting the Bereavement Specialist and Volunteers with the delivery of a variety of programs, evaluating program effectiveness, coordinating key events and maintaining a client information database.

Hospice Niagara offers:

- 35 hours per week

Successful candiates will be:

- Experienced in group grief counselling with a specialized focus on children and youth
- Experienced in developing and facilitating engaging and supportive virtual bereavement groups
- Demonstrated understanding of clinical intake processes to triage and refer for appropriate service
- Hours of work are typically Monday to Friday 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM but due vary depending on program offering so flexibility for evenings and weekends is required.
