We are seeking a creative, dynamic, committed professional to join our team:
Network Technician
100% Regular
Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week (12 month work year)
**ESP Level 6**: $43,749 to $55,890
Under the direction of the Team Lead, Network and Infrastructure, the Network Technician installs, maintains and upgrades supported networks and network infrastructure in schools, including SD-WAN, LAN, Telecommunications, Wireless equipment and various network infrastructure at all Board sites including schools and other designated sites.
**Main responsibilities include but are not limited to**:
Deliver, configure, install and remove OCDSB Network and Telecom equipment.
Identify, detect and respond to security incidents.
Respond to issues and requests from staff in relation to the OCDSB network, telecom and internet.
Repair and install network devices and structured cabling
Receives, confirms and updates Call Ticket/Log with precise solutions to problems, follows up as necessary
Provide training and support to OCDSB staff and students
Assist in the research of new technology.
**Qualifications**:
Completion of a 2 or 3- year program in Electronic Computer Technician/Technologist from a recognized institution, and 2 years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Completion of recognized vendor training and other general training focused on basic networking concepts; Operating Systems training would be an asset.
Experience with server, desktop, workstation and peripheral installations and service.
Ability to work with both Wired and Wireless hardware across various operating systems.
Experience with IEEE wiring standards and in basic network operations.
Interpersonal and communication skills are required to instruct users; to exchange, clarify and provide information; and to respond to inquiries with tact and diplomacy.
Organizational and time management skills are required to prioritize work and to manage multiple priorities and concurrent demands.
Written skills are required to complete relevant forms.
Initiative and judgement skills in order to troubleshoot problems, make recommendations and take appropriate action.
Familiarity with the tools of the trade, such as cable testers, and crimping and punch-down tools.
Ability to work independently, with mínimal supervision, and learn new materials and technology without instruction.
Access to reliable transportation for local travel to Board sites.
