The Business Analyst, Data & Analytics reports to the Manager, Biostatistics and Analytics and compiles confidential and sensitive information to inform program-level business reports, operational plans, analytical dashboards, executive-level presentations and briefing documents for multiple internal and external stakeholders. Working in close collaboration with Cardiac Services BC (CSBC) leadership and provincial partners, the role performs ongoing review and data analysis to generate comprehensive and valid reports from existing and emerging activities, services and initiatives. The Business Analyst contributes to provincial monitoring of safety, quality, system planning, access, business operations and finance initiatives by providing data and metrics related to the strategic goals and performance metrics, with a goal of optimizing health outcomes and quality of care for cardiovascular patients in BC.

**What you’ll do**
- Develops and produces performance metrics and visualization tools to provide high quality analysis of key indicators, including budget, quality and safety, data standards.
- Develops confidential and sensitive reports to inform strategic business planning, program-level business reports, analytical dashboards, executive-level presentations and briefing documents for multiple internal and external partners.
- Ensures internal, external and public reporting needs are met by gathering and negotiating reporting requirements from system partners, communicating requirements to technical resources and following up with end users regularly to ensure continuous quality improvement of CSBC’s surveillance and reporting activities.
- Analyzes operational problems and recommends innovative solutions by critically evaluating information gathered from multiple sources, reconciling conflicts, decomposing high-level information into details, abstracting up from low-level information to a general understanding, distinguishing user requests from the underlying true needs, and driving and challenging business assumptions.
- Works in collaboration with program leaders and provincial partners to monitor program plans, measure progress towards goals and objectives, and identify the key factors that account for any deviation from stated goals and objectives.
- Identifies issues with complex data, including data of confidential and/or sensitive nature, and takes initiative in working out optimal solutions with appropriate stakeholders to improve accuracy, timelines, coordination and other data issues while demonstrating tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing and handling information
- Provides health planning, program development, and project management support for new initiatives and business cases. Provides leadership in the development of processes to analyze the functionality and effectiveness of program delivery and recommend improvements.
- Keeps up-to-date about new initiatives, developments, trends and best practice in evaluation and monitoring through literature reviews and contact with key stakeholders from other organizations. Communicates information and makes recommendations to program leaders.

**What you bring**

**Qualifications**:

- A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master’s degree in Business, Analytics, Health Informatics, Health Sciences, or related discipline plus a minimum of five(5) years of recent experience in complex data analysis, health evaluation, project/program management, preferably in a large, multi-site health care environment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform accurate advanced data manipulation, analysis, data visualization and information presentation using Microsoft Office suite, database, data visualization and statistical software. Knowledge and experience in project management, strategic planning and project implementation. Demonstrated ability to demonstrate tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing and handling information of a confidential and/or sensitive nature. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability in preparing professional reports and presentation materials. Ability to work under pressure and multi-task without supervision. Ability to communicate complex and technical ideas in simple language. Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and initiative.
