**LIFE-2002 Art Biomes (0.5 Credits)**
- (Winter Semester: Thursday, January 4 - Friday, April 19, 2024; Wednesdays; 3:10 to 6:10PM; In-Person)_

**COURSE DESCRIPTION**:Biomes are environments characterized by complex relationships between and within bodies, communities, and land. While both engaging with and providing cultural critiques of the sciences, Art Biomes considers multiple ways of knowing in order to reflect upon life and think about ecosystems as models for artmaking. Informed by lived experience, diverse perspectives and highlighting Indigenous voices, students will consider and compare observational practices and explore the ethics of entanglements within living systems. Thematic modules are supported through workshops, readings, and interdisciplinary material experimentations in collaboration with peers in Life Studies to forefront sustainability, with a local and global mindset.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Teaching and teaching-related responsibilities may include but are not limited to: course outline development, studio preparation and delivery inclusive of lectures, critiques, grading, mid-term evaluations and final evaluations/reviews, participation in Faculty and program meetings; including responsibility for health & safety and meeting academic and curricular requirements and deadlines.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- The successful applicant should have a terminal degree in art, design or relevant discipline and/or equivalent professional/practical experience
- Experience teaching at the post-secondary level is considered an asset, equivalent relevant experience will be considered
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- A good working knowledge of electronics, Arduino, the Adobe Suite and Max/MSP are necessary.
- Demonstrated leadership and experience promoting a respectful and inclusive work and learning environment for students, staff, and faculty
