ROLE PURPOSE
This position will provide service delivery, oversight, and direction to the day-to-day operations of the volunteer services for the Fraser Valley Community Corrections area. This position will ensure the program serves the goals and objectives of the Volunteer Program through effective recruitment, training, monitoring and implementation of volunteer activities to meet service user needs.

STATUS AND CLASSIFICATION
Unionized. This position is open to applicants of all genders.

HOURS (30 HOURS PER WEEK)
- Monday to Thursday
- This position requires the ability to work flexible hours based on operational needs.

REPORTING AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports and is accountable to the Program Manager or their designate
- Facilitates the delivery of programs and initiatives contracted by Correctional Services Canada
- Liaises with Connective Support Society staff to support the agency’s initiatives and to deliver person centred services in keeping with our philosophy
- Liaises with other members of Connective
- Liaises with other community and government agencies in the area

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develops and maintains projects and specific tasks for Fraser Valley Community Corrections in which volunteers from the community can be involved
- Liaises between different organizations to establish and maintain projects focusing on strengthening community resources for service users on conditional release
- Manages recruitment processes for potential volunteers, including interviewing, conducting information sessions, verify volunteer references, and ensure Reliability Status Clearance
- Trains and supervises between 15 to 20 volunteers to provide outreach support to individuals in Fraser Valley Community Corrections experiencing major mental illnesses, brain injuries, dual diagnoses, and/or aging
- Oversees the day to day operations of the program by ensuring that the necessary facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered to, and program standards and funder terms and conditions are met
- Ensures that the required systems are in place to support the program
- Assists in organizing community events to educate the public about Correctional Services Canada
- Is responsible for budget management and financial expenditures as delegated by their supervisor
- Ensures accurate and complete program and client records are maintained in the case management system, required reports are submitted on a regular basis, and confidentiality is preserved as a priority
- Provides needs assessments, information, support, advocacy for service users of the Society
- Identifies problems and facilitate creative, effective and responsible problem solving
- Participates in planning and meetings as directed
- Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required
- Maintains confidential case files and statistics
- Completes other related duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Demonstrates initiative, independence and efficiency
- Follows guidelines as outlined by Connective
- Works 30 hours per week with time apportioned through days, evenings and weekends as necessary to meet the program needs
- Is a member of CUPE Local 1936-11
- Receives benefits and works within the conditions as outlined in the collective agreement and the personnel policies

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Graduated with a Degree in Humanities or Social Science with an emphasis on Social Work, Counselling Criminology; equivalencies may be considered
- Minimum one year of extensive experience recruiting, screening, training, deploying volunteers
- Direct and extensive experience in the delivery of supports and services in a community-based setting, and specifically working with service users in a community environment
- Experience working with individuals with mental health problems, developmental disabilities, FASD, and brain injury with moderate to severe functioning impairment and personality disorders
- Demonstrated a strong ability to work with persons in crisis
- Work independently yet in cooperation with others
- Excellent written, verbal, interviewing and assessment skills

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Ability to travel to different sites to support clients in both Abbotsford and Chilliwack
- Ability to successfully complete an Enhanced Security Clearance
- Ability to obtain Reliability status clearance from CSC
- Ability to successfully pass a reference check
- Current Emergency First Aid Certificate
- Valid driver’s license
- Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination
- Completed TB Screening
- Personal transportation that is in good repair, insured for business up to $1,000,000 for liability, and which can be used to transport clients
- Permanent Residency or Canadian Citizenship for Security Clearance
