Plains has a great opportunity for a highly motivated student to join our Emergency & Security Management team for a 12-month work term in our Calgary office, beginning January 6, 2025. **Responsibilities**:

- Gain an understanding the Plains Emergency and Security Management Programs & regulatory requirements in order to support maintenance of these programs;
- Support the development and execution of emergency response and security exercises and training;
- This may require travel in Canada (about 15% of time) and to the USA;
- Lead the delivery of select Environmental Emergency (E2) exercises in Canada;
- Complete post exercise and training reports (After Action Reports);
- Post and track action items in tracking software;
- Support and maintain updates to Emergency Response Plans (ERP’s)
- Conduct internal assurance activities as required by the Programs;
- Gain knowledge of the Incident Command System and be able to use it in exercises and training;
- Develop the ability to use the tools, resources and forms required for emergency response; and
- Develop security bulletins.

**Qualifications**:

- Preference will be given to second, third, or fourth year students enrolled in full-time studies in a post-secondary institution, working towards a bachelors degree in the field of environmental science, emergency management or a related educational field;
- Prior Student/Intern work experience is an asset;
- Proficiency with MS Office including Excel, Word, SharePoint and Outlook;
- Demonstrated strong analytical and organizational skills;
- Proven flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing business conditions;
- Excellent computer and communication skills;
- Ability to work well within a fast-paced team environment and under mínimal supervision;
- Preference will be given to a student who will be returning to university to finish their undergraduate degree following the completion of this work term;
- Interns must be able and willing to relocate themselves to Calgary for the duration of the work term;
- Valid passport with ability to travel to the USA;
- Interns must be able to commit to a full 12-month work term starting January 6, 2025, to be considered for the program; and
