**Location - **Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton. This role is in-person.

**Working for the Department**

**Position**

The Research Assistant is responsible for providing and maintaining a research lab in support of cellular and molecular mechanisms of skin scars.

**Duties**
- Assist research scientists with ongoing projects, including patient biopsy processing, Immunochemistry staining, Fluorescence staining, and real time PCR.
- Update lab inventories of patient samples, cell lines and chemicals in a timely manner.
- Recognize and react to biosafety and chemical issues in the laboratory, ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials, and maintain a clean and safe lab environment.
- Prepare commonly used solutions for the lab.

**Qualifications**
- Laboratory-based diploma.
- Minimum 1 year of experience working in a lab environment.
- Strong organizational skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel).
- Ability to master basic experiment techniques such as cell culture, qPCR, IHC and IF staining.
