Why is this role important?
- The Health Indicators and Client Support area is responsible for the calculation and dissemination of various indicators of health system performance for hospitals and health regions across the country. The Project Lead is a key member of the team and is responsible for leading the analysis, compilation, verification and dissemination of a set of indicators intended to provide health providers, health system decision-makers, researchers and the public with reliable and comparable data on various dimensions of health system performance. The Project Lead also leads client support activities and works closely with internal and external stakeholders.
- What you'll do
- 1. Leads team’s activities for the compilation of the set of indicators, including developing and maintaining indicator definitions and supporting documentation, identifying appropriate internal/external data sources, and calculation and verification of the indicator data.
- 2. Leads the methodological reviews of the existing set of indicators, including the relevant data analyses and literature reviews, while working closely with the Senior Methodologist and other team members.
- 3. Leads client support activities, including technical/methodological inquiries from internal and external stakeholders, data requests and ad hoc analyses to support special studies, liaises with key stakeholders to fully define data and/or analytical requirements.
- 4. Liaises with internal/external stakeholders regarding upcoming private and public data releases; leads/supports communication to stakeholders, including relevant communication materials and documentation.
- 5. Coaches the team of analysts and senior analysts on the relevant methodological and technical issues. Provides input to annual performance management reviews as assigned.
- 6. Liaises with external organizations regarding measurement, definitional and data source issues.
- 7. Establishes and maintains links with relevant facility, regional, provincial, and national organizations, e.g. Statistics Canada. Represents CIHI externally as required.
- 8. Develops and maintains detailed knowledge of CIHI’s data holdings, related data held by other organizations, and tools used by CIHI to access these data holdings and perform analyses.
- 9. Maintains current knowledge about analytical techniques, health services and population health research, health system performance and stakeholder information needs.
- 10. Participates on CIHI project teams as required.
- What you'll bring to the table
- Graduate degree in health services research, epidemiology, public health, health information, biostatistics or similar field or equivalent skills and experience.
- Minimum five years of related experience.
- Demonstrated expertise with health system performance indicators and dissemination of information.
- Advanced knowledge and experiences in using SAS.
- Experience in the use of large cross-sectional and longitudinal data sets.
- Track record of project management experience.
- Strong writing skills. Experience in the preparation of statistical and descriptive reports.
- Knowledge of determinants of health, the measurement of health status, health system performance, and the Canadian health system.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
- Fluency in both official languages is an asset.
