**The salary range for this position is**:
**Recruitment range: $63,941- $70,492** starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.

**Performance range: starting salary to max of $83,138** is available through annual performance increases.
- Job SummaryAn Exchange Advisor actively consults and educates students using a developmental approach. This position provides information, referrals, and expert advice that support students’ planning and decision-making as it relates to their exchange term. This position also strives to educate students on cultural competencies. The day-to-day work of a Student Exchange Advisor includes responding to a broad range of queries from domestic and international stakeholders while operationalizing and promoting the exchange program. This role must also maintain and develop excellent relationships with international partners, and other UVic units on campus.

The Student Exchange Advisors provide expert consultation and support to Gustavson administrative and academic units on student exchange and international mobility issues and have active involvement in student mobility projects and initiatives. This position also provides guidance for the Program Assistant (including co-op/work study students) and coordinates exchange program training, curriculum, and events. As a result of the nature of the duties and responsibilities of this position, occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
- Job RequirementsA bachelor's degree and 3-5 years related international education experience that includes developing, implementing and leading student mobility programs for post-secondary students and international experience developed through travel, work and/or education that will inform the student experience of studying abroad.

Related experience communicating with students, including creating a virtual presence through the use of websites, social media, video production; delivering workshops, programs and presentations; organizing major events and/or programs within a higher education environment.

Ability to foster and develop relationships with Gustavson stakeholders and partner institutions to support and increase student engagement with education abroad.

Experience in educating students on cultural competencies.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
In addition, this position requires:

- Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Superior communication skills both written and verbal
- Demonstrated training, facilitation leadership and supervision skills
- Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with multiple stakeholders through strong collaboration and proactive initiatives
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Proven expertise in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills
- Intercultural fluency and experience communicating with individuals with diverse backgrounds
- Assets or Preferences:
- Certification from College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC) as a Regulated International Student Immigration Adviser (RISIA) would be considered an asset for this role
- Experience with social media platforms, website management or graphic design
- Knowledge of global university organizations and an understanding of post-secondary exchange processes
- Experience working at a post-secondary institution
- Position requires a genuine interest in the student experience and dedication to creating and supporting a diverse and inclusive community
