**General Accountability**

The Facilities Maintenance Technician performs a wide variety of activities to ensure that the building premises are maintained in a safe and effective working condition, reporting to the Facilities Manager.

**Specific Accountabilities**
- Evaluate and maintain electrical, HVAC systems, plumbing and custodial needs within the various facilities.
- Communicate with the Facilities Manager about any work that requires outside expert assistance.
- Receive and respond to reports of mechanical or maintenance issues within the various facilities.
- Inspect/troubleshoot and report damages and need for equipment repairs.
- Maintain accurate logs and basic written records of work performed.
- Work with a variety of tools and supplies necessary to complete projects.
- Maintain corporate safety procedures at all times and comply with lockout/tagout regulations.
- Maintain fire, carbon monoxide, smoke and other safety systems within the facilities.
- Maintain storage areas and cleaning equipment, material and supplies in a safe and orderly manner to ensure the safety of staff and clients.
- Ensure a clean and tidy working environment to aid operational efficiency and workplace safety.
- Utilize the appropriate resources to solve day-to-day problems; react quickly to unforeseen events.
- Work in compliance with all Administrative, Health and Safety policies and procedures as per legislative requirements and as outlined in Company policies.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.

**Experience and Education Requirements**
- A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience working in a maintenance environment.
- Knowledge of general maintenance procedures (i.e. plumbing, tiling, dry-walling, painting, etc).
- Completion of secondary education.

**Skills/Abilities**
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Ability to understand and follow direction with mínimal supervision.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and countermeasure identification skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Ability to multi-task and remain detail oriented.
- General knowledge of HVAC electrical/mechanical systems.

- Self-starter with practical judgment and a decisive manner.
- Flexible to work a variety of shifts including weekends and overtime as needed.

**Working Conditions**
- Regular periods during which physical effort is required, e.g., walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
- Must be able to work at heights.
- Exposure to factors such as temperature variations/extremes, fumes, moving machinery, humidity, toxic materials which may cause periods of discomfort.
- Regular need to give close attention, either hearing or seeing, to what is happening.
- Occasional direct and indirect pressure from deadlines.
