**Job Title**: IT Technician
**Location**: Based in Peterborough with travel requirements to Genpak plants across Canada and the USA as needed.
**Job Summary**
The IT Technician will oversee and manage the technology infrastructure across Genpak Canada's facilities, ensuring efficient, secure, and reliable systems to support business operations. This role involves hands-on technical work, budget management, and US team coordination to optimize IT performance across all sites. The IT Technician will collaborate with the corporate head office in North Carolina to address company-wide IT initiatives and resolve issues escalated by users across Canadian plants.
**Key Responsibilities**
- **IT Infrastructure**:
- Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrading of hardware, software, networks, and security systems with co-ordination with US Head Office.
- Maintain and troubleshoot systems and devices, including engineering servers, FedEx and UPS PCs, phone systems (LAN and Rogers cellular accounts), Internet devices, network cabling, and Eaton UPS systems.
- Ensure backup systems are reliable and coordinate with head office for secure data backup solutions.
- **IT Support and Troubleshooting**:
- Act as the first point of contact for IT issues from Canadian users, escalating complex problems to the head office.
- Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and training to end-users across various Genpak Canada plants.
- Regularly assess system performance and identify opportunities to enhance overall efficiency and reliability.
- **Inventory and Equipment Management**:
- Procure, package, and ship IT equipment to Genpak Canada facilities as needed.
- Approve invoices, manage returns, and maintain inventory of IT assets across Canadian plants.
- **Budget and Cost Management**:
- Maintain and monitor IT budget spreadsheets for all Canadian Genpak plants.
- Ensure cost-effective use of resources by optimizing spending on technology solutions.
- Prepare reports and recommend improvements to balance cost and performance.
- Submit PO’s for purchasing and approve IT invoices.
- **Documentation and Compliance**:
- Maintain documentation of IT assets, including hardware, software licenses, and warranty records.
- Ensure compliance with security protocols.
- Prepare engineering data backups and coordinate offsite storage for insurance purposes.
- **Collaboration and Communication**:
- Work closely with head office in North Carolina, and with users at various Canadian Genpak facilities, to address technology needs and ensure consistent IT practices.
- Communicate effectively with department heads and users across all plants to understand and address their technical needs.
**Qualifications**
- **Education**: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- **Experience**: Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT technical support or related roles, ideally in a multi-site environment.
- **Skills**:
- Strong understanding of computer hardware, software, cabling, and network security.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in budgeting and cost management.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Varies based on experience, and qualifications.

Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
