**Summary of Duties**:
Reporting to the Youth Crime Prevention Manager and member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Youth Program Coordinator provides the planning, development and management of the Lil’wat Youth Wellness Program which reflects a blend of life skills, culture, on-the-land excursions, and crime prevention workshops. This position encourages and promotes a supportive environment for at-risk youth to address barriers they may be experiencing. The Coordinator works in cooperation with individuals and groups in the community to determine the youth needs and is responsible for developing programs, strategies and a monthly calendar of events and supervising volunteers and assigned staff when required.

**Key Deliverables and Expectations**:

- Develops and coordinates the youth program as per project deliverables and initiatives from the Lil’wat Nation Youth Strategic Plan.
- Ensures the program and its events or activities occur in a safe and timely manner.
- Intervenes and provides guidance in individual or group situations.
- Type and proof correspondence including posters, waivers, monthly/quarterly or annual work plans and a monthly/quarterly program calendar.
- Provide budget expense claim for each program using the program planning template.
- Record attendance and provide evaluation sheets for each event.
- Report incidence(s) as per Lil’wat Nation Human Resources Policy and/or Duty to Report legislation.
- Generate a contact/resource list for external partnerships and network with other First Nation communities re: youth program planning.
- Ensure that the programs and services align with appropriate legislations, acts and are manageable group sizes.
- Organize on-the-land or trips out of the community excursions (e.g. camping, other First Nation events, SLCC )
- Attend in-house Youth Planning meetings as required.
- Write proposals for small grants.
- Perform other related duties as requested.

**Experience and Attributes**:

- Certification in an area related to the program, such as Education, First Nations Studies, Youth Worker, etc.
- Previous experience working with youth or in a planning/coordinating role; 3+ years’ experience preferred.
- Experience working in a First Nations community would be an asset.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
- Ability to work independently and as an integral member of various teams.
- Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail and time management skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Motivated self-starter and with strong interpersonal skills.
- Highly professional in all aspects of business, presentation and interaction with all stakeholders, clients, and Members
- Act in the strictest confidentiality and professional manner always, including outside regular working hours.
- Have a flexible schedule and be prepared to run programs/activities in the evening and travel.
- Demonstrated experience in planning e.g. expense sheet to run a program and a monthly calendar.
- Demonstrated skills re: shopping for programs, recruiting/researching for facilitators to run a targeted workshop.
- Basic Counselling Skills or Conflict Resolution are considered an asset.
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license, insurance, a clean Driver’s Abstract, and a reliable vehicle.
- Must provide a clear Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector.
