Part-time Event and Activation Manager for Brain

Maple, Canada Brain Power Full time

Do you love bringing people together and crafting unforgettable moments? If you're

organized, love creating experiences, and want to be a part of something special, then

I've got just the role for you:
Part-Time Event and Activation Manager for Brain Power Enrichment Programs

(20 hours per week)

Our Company

Briefly - we’re a team of passionate nerds who are passionately nerdy about building

best-in-class enrichment programs that nurture passion and nerdiness

Less briefly - Brain Power creates and operates incredible afterschool enrichment

communities for students grades 1 to 12, nurturing and stimulating curious, creative

young minds for over 30 years. At 6 campuses across the GTA, our core full-year

programs in Math and Problem Solving, Language Arts and Public Speaking are

complemented by a wide-ranging mix of summer programs and year-round workshops,

from chess to investment to the mechanics of writing and everything in between

Throughout, the five principles that guide our teaching are academic mentorship,

feedback, accelerated learning, complexity, and engagement.

Our magic happens when 3 things come together:
1. Expert, passionate educators

2. Bright, curious students

3. A thoughtful, research-backed, cutting-edge curriculum

Some core beliefs that guide our approach:

- We teach our students how to think, not what to think
- We respect our students’ intelligence and nurture their passion - learning can and

should be fun
- We place and instruct students based on ability, not age
- Genius stems from insight, and insight is both learnable and teachable
- Students learn as much from each other as they do from their teachers - learning

is done best in community
- The core of intelligence in any field, is deep, nuanced understanding that is

flexibly applied and communicated
- Our minds are explored and discovered as much as they are developed - much of

our instructors’ role is to bolster a student’s confidence in that exploration and

celebrate their discoveries

The Role

Families understand what we’re about and become passionate Brain Power customers

and advocates when they meet us, both at events at our existing campuses and at

external activations. We have a strong brand identity and reputation, we have a big,

committed team of educators and alumni, we have graphic/copy/conceptual design

expertise, and we have all the creativity in the world. When we run/attend events, they

go great - we just don’t have the bandwidth to do enough of them

What we’re missing is an events specialist and operator to bring it all together - to plan

and execute events that bring the Brain Power magic. If bringing best-in-class education

to families in the GTA and beyond sounds like your cup of tea, then this is the role for

you

**Responsibilities**:

- Let's work together to bring our vision to life. We'll plan and execute events and

local activations that align with our company goals and identity.
- You'll handle everything from finding venues to managing budgets, scheduling,

coordinating with vendors, and planning logistics.
- When it's event time, you'll be there to ensure everything runs smoothly on-site,

from setups to making sure all the necessary resources are in place.
- You’ll recruit, train, and manage event staff and volunteers, making sure

everyone knows their role.
- Building and maintaining relationships with partners, sponsors, and vendors will

be crucial. We will negotiate contracts and secure what we need for our events.
- You will always keep an eye out for new opportunities. Stay updated on trends,

competitors, and potential partnerships to make our events even better
- You'll handle Eventbrite pages for our events, managing descriptions, ticketing,

and promotions to get people excited and engaged.
- You’ll keep everyone in the loop with event reminders, announcements, and

updates, and work with our design and marketing teams to create eye-catching

collateral.

**Qualifications**:

- You should have at least 3 years of experience and expertise in event planning

and coordination. If you've got a Bachelor's degree or certificate in Event

Management, Hospitality, Marketing, or related fields, even better.

plus (if not, we will teach you - it’s easy)
- You don’t need to have a background in education - but if dorky puns, math

jokes, puzzles/riddles, and intense debates on pointless topics sound like fun to

you, you’ll fit right in and will get what we’re all about
- You should be a pro at managing projects, juggling tasks, and staying cool in a

fast-paced environment.
- Communication is key You'll be working with teams, partners, and stakeholders,

so excellent interpersonal skills are a must.
- Attention to detail and an ability to own and drive projects to the finish line is

crucial.
- You're a problem-solver, always ready to tackle challenges head-on.
- Planning and coordinating can be done from home - but the magic happens in
