**Front of House Manager**
Highlands Golf Club is a member-owned golf club, founded in 1929. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, the golf course is situated in the beautiful North Saskatchewan River Valley, just minutes east of the downtown core. Our Shareholders have approved a $3.3m clubhouse renovation, which is scheduled for the winter of 2024. This exciting renovation will see the expansion of our kitchen and patio, relocation of our bars, as well as complete modernization of the interior spaces.
Our Food & Beverage business has continued to grow, and we are now looking to separate FOH duties into two roles: Front of House Manager as well as a Special Events Manager. We are currently looking for the services of a **Front of House Manager**.
The Front of House Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the FOH operation related to our regular day-to-day member and guest F&B operations. The successful applicant will be part of our management team and will work very closely with our Special Events Manager and Executive Chef. This is a year-round position, with a heavier emphasis and commitment during March-December.
**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:
- Responsible for overseeing all aspects of our regular day-to-day member and guest F&B operations, including the development and implementation of the overall departmental goals.
- Promote excellent member relations and strive to exceed all reasonable member expectations. Actively solicit member feedback and ensure timely responses.
- Maintain a highly visible presence within the Club and its membership.
- Recruit, hire, and actively develop enthusiastic staff. This includes employee onboarding and training, with ongoing positive reinforcement, corrective coaching, motivation, support, and mentoring.
- Responsible for FOH employee training, administration, and compliance with our existing safety program.
- Responsible for the scheduling of the FOH department to meet service expectations, while adhering to budgeted labor costs.
- Responsible for ordering supplies and liquor inventory, as well as ensuring proper inventory controls are in place.
- Development of wine, beer, liquor, and cocktail menus.
- Preparation and verification of daily cash reports, ensuring accurate member charges, cash, debit, and credit card transactions.
- Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and federal mandated guidelines and laws related to food and beverage service.
- Ensure all Food and Beverage areas are maintained to high standards of cleanliness following all health and safety guidelines, including regular inspection of equipment.
- Attend weekly F&B team meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
**Desired skills and experience**:
- Previous experience working at a membership-based golf course operation, or in the tourism and hospitality industry, would be considered an asset.
- Minimum of 3-5 years prior in a supervisory position in the service industry.
- Completion of at least grade 12 education. A Hospitality Degree would be considered an asset.
- Ability to work well under pressure, make quick decisions, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- A team leader who must have excellent communication skills, work well with others, problem solve, make decisions, and be willing to stay ahead of the service industry and Food & Beverage trends.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. There will be an emphasis on longer hours during March-December with fewer hours in January and February.
- Working knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Office programs and other industry tools. Previous experience with Jonas software would be considered an asset.
- Valid ProServe certification.
- First aid and safety training would be considered an asset.
