**JOB SUMMARY**:
Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services is responsible for the day-to-day operation of facilities and service delivery for recreation venues and programs, parks & recreation policies, and programs for cultural services. Ensures the operations, processes and services are customer-centric and efficient. The units deliver community recreation programs through geographically aligned areas across the City, aquatic, sport and physical activity programming for all ages, as well as programming to address the needs of individuals with disabilities and population segments who may experience barriers to access recreation services.

You are responsible for assisting with all aspects of the Therapeutic Recreation functions of the Acquired Brain Injury Program funded by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. You create individualized Therapeutic Recreation plans and directly deliver recreation and therapeutic recreation program components. You may assist other part-time Recreation Therapists in the branch and may also represent the Portfolio Manager at the Hospital Community Connections Committee and other committees as required.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**:
Completion of 4 year year university degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation with concentration in Therapeutic Recreation

Minimum of 2 years of full time community or clinical experience working in a recreation and culture environment with adults with Acquired or Traumatic Brain Injuries

Experience administering different Therapeutic Recreation Assessment tools

**CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES**:

Crisis Prevention/Intervention training certificate
Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates
Ontario Brain Injury Association Certificate Training Program Level 1
Registered Therapeutic Recreation practitioner (R/TRO) with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario within the timeframe determined by the employer
Fitness Instructor certificate (e.g., canfitpro, YM-YWCA, Ontario Fitness Council or other recognized certification)

**KNOWLEDGE**:

- Knowledge of Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics For Therapeutic Recreation Professionals in the Province of Ontario
- Knowledge of the Leisure Ability Model, legislation impacting special populations, health and safety legislation, policies and procedures in Parks and Recreation Branch

**COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:

- Programming, ability to lead groups, well developed communication skills, able to supervise part-time staff and volunteers
