This position reports to the Sr. Geophysicist, GeoServices in the GeoServices & Land department.
This position is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and is not available for remote work.
What you will do:
- Contribute to the GeoServices team in providing quality geophysical support to potash mining operations
- Operate microseismic acquisition and reporting workflow
- Management of geophysical sensor network
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of geoscientists, engineers, and mine technologists to gather and integrate a variety of geophysical and mine datasets in order to identify and characterize geohazards and other phenomenon that are important for continuing safe operations
- Ability to work with co-workers from many different personal backgrounds is essential
- Ability to work with consultants, researchers, and other external entities
- Ability to work outdoors and in the underground mine environment
- Some travel may be required
- Some longer than normal workdays may be required
What you will bring:
- The minimum educational requirement for the position of GIT is a post graduate degree specialized in Geophysics (or equivalent) from an accredited university
- Eligible for membership with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) (P.Geo., P. Eng, or both)
- Geophysics (or equivalent) from an accredited university
- Experience in applied geophysics to mining would be an asset
- Excellent technical ability
- Working knowledge of geophysical instrumentation
- Regular support and involvement with all safety programs and active promotion of safety awareness
- Thorough critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Good written communication skills
- Good oral communication and presentation skills
- Ability and willingness to learn new skills
- Ability to adapt to sudden changes in work demands
