**CORE FUNCTION**:
This position is responsible to develop and implement occupational health and safety programs and practices, in collaboration with other OH&S professionals within the City of Saskatoon. The position provides advice, guidance, and assistance to supervisors and staff to facilitate the implementation and compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation. This position supports the enhancement of a positive health and safety culture.

**Scope and Major Responsibilities**:
1. Builds relationships with staff and guides, mentors and provides field level safety support to ensure all work is completed in a safe manner.

2. Creates and/or adapts and implements new or existing occupational health and safety programs.

3. Oversees and drives monitoring and compliance by auditing work observations and inspections completed by supervisors/managers and providing mentorship where applicable.

4. Encourages safe behaviors by using coaching intervening techniques and leading conversations to increase the safety awareness.

5. Supports a safe working environment by ensuring health and safety administrative processes are defined and followed and conducting health and safety training when required.

6. Supports the determination and prioritization of health and safety issues and initiatives by providing feedback on Health & Safety programs and trends to concerned parties.

7. Provides support to all involved /managers/directors during safety incidents. Provides guidance with processes and recommend correctives actions to prevent future incidents.

9. Performs other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety
- Two years' related experience in safety
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Possession of a Journeyman or NCSO designation would be considered an asset.
- Considerable knowledge of provincial legislation pertaining to occupational health
and safety, and workers’ compensation and the duty to accommodate.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, design and present safety-related training programs.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct investigations, determine hazardous conditions and take corrective action.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of confidentiality and trust.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
- Skill in consulting, facilitating, conflict resolution and decision-making.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
- Current driver’s abstract demonstrating a safe driving record

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: $76,280.64-$89,630.16 per year
