Toronto, Canada Select Food Products Limited Full time

**Purpose**
Reporting to the Director, Food Safety and Quality, the Regulatory Affairs Specialist is responsible for ensuring that regulatory strategies and regulatory activities are effectively executed to meet the business objectives and legal requirements.

*
Responsibilities:*
- Review product formulas and generate technical label information and ensure label claim accuracy.

*
Provide regulatory guidance to the product development team during initial development, product launches and during reformulations.

*
Collaborate with customers to provide regulatory expertise during label development and as needed throughout the initial product development stages.

*
Liase with the process authority to ensure our products meet legal requirements for export.

*
Resolve regulatory concerns as they arise and provide corrective and preventive actions.

*
Working with the technical team to ensure ERP information and labeling information is current and accurate.

*
Ensure finished product specification sheets are updated with final artwork, claims, nutritional information, and allergen declarations.

*
Maintain customer web portals to ensure label claims, nutrition information and specification accuracy.

*
Ensure products are manufactured and distributed according to legislative requirements including, but not limited, to regulations set by CFIA, USDA, FDA and other food regulatory bodies.

*
Remain current on all labeling regulation for Canada and the US.

*
Ensure implementation and full dissemination of new regulations to cross-functional teams.

*
Liaise and coordinate with regulatory authorities in Canada and the US

*
Conduct ongoing review of existing SKUs and ensure compliance to regulatory requirements i.e., label review, registrations, etc.

*
Maintain organic, kosher, and non-GMO programs and participate in organic audits in conjunction with the QA team.

*
Present technical label changes to the QA team when labels are updated and ensure current label information is provided to the production floor.

*
Management and maintenance of the Bill of Material (BOM).

*
Collaborate with packaging suppliers to ensure label compliance.

*
Provide recommendations for continuous improvement initiatives as it relates to regulatory affairs.

*
Maintain complete nutritional information in Spec Page for product development samples and approved products.

*
Other duties and assignments as required.

*
Knowledge, Experience & Competencies*

*
Problem solving and time management skills.
- Demonstrable experience working independently without close supervision is preferred.
- Experience working with nutritional software such as Genesis or Spec Page.
- University degree or college diploma in Food Technology or Food Science (preferred).
- A foreign equivalent designation also acceptable.
- 5+ years progressive work experience in food manufacturing is a must which should include some regulatory training.
- Experience working with sauce condiments or dressings is considered an asset.
