Steelcon Fabrication Inc. is growing, and we are looking to augment our team with a talented Payroll Coordinator.

Reporting to Manager, Human Resources, the **Payroll Coordinator** will own the full-cycle payroll and benefits operations for salary and hourly employees in a non-union and unionized manufacturing environment, while providing administrative support to the human resources function, maintaining the HRIS and keeping accurate and up-to-date confidential employee files.

**As a Payroll coordinator, you will contribute to our team by**:

- Processing new hires, employee changes, & terminations of salary, hourly, and union employees.
- Verifying time entries and process related controls, including calculation of hours, special adjustments, deductions, taxes, etc.
- Administering and processing the required documents for the health and welfare plans, including enrolment, changes and terminations and reconcile benefit statements.
- Managing WSIB claims from reviewing accident reporting, managing workers compensation claims to appealing claims.
- Compiling year-end requirements, including processing and reporting for T4, T4A, taxable benefits, WSIB and submitting government filings in a timely manner.
- Performing customer service function by answering employee requests and questions and escalating as appropriate.
- Developing strong relationships with payroll providers to quickly troubleshoot issues, including amending ROE’s, special pay runs, and other time sensitive transactions.
- Understanding and interpreting government legislation to ensure compliance regarding pay/deductions/benefits/taxes/documentation.
- Assisting with HR projects and initiatives.
- All other duties as assigned.

**What you will bring to this role**:
**Essential**:

- Relevant University degree or diploma (i.e., Business, Accounting, Finance etc.),
- Minimum of 4+ years relevant work experience in payroll and HR.
- Must have experience with union payroll.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with an emphasis on providing exceptional customer service.
- Ability to maintain performance when faced with tight deadlines and frequent changes
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive employee personnel files, ensuring security, integrity, and confidentiality of data, adhering to legal and ethical standards.
- Proficiency in Ceridian

**Preferred**:

- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification or working towards the completion of the PCP certification.
- Experience in the manufacturing industry is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and seasoned problem-solving skills.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
