**The Opportunity**

We are seeking someone who wants to make a difference and has a passion for supporting children and youth, and their family members, who have experienced trauma. A good fit for our agency is a self-directed, engaging and empathetic Clinical Counsellor who has clear knowledge, experience and understanding of trauma as it relates to the experience of a child or youth. We are looking for someone who can function independently yet also interface well with our Clinical Coordinator who oversees the program. This position will provide comprehensive clinical counselling to children and youth, and their families, who have experienced trauma.

POSITION: Temporary, Part-Time until April 2025, with the possibility of extension
HOURS OF WORK: 17.5 Hours per week
Flexible Work Schedule with potential for some weekends and evenings
SALARY RANGE: Grid 16P, $44.90- $51.14, with an increase coming April 1, 2024

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provides comprehensive clinical counselling and psychotherapy to children and youth, and their family members, who have experiences of trauma or toxic stress, using a variety of psychotherapeutic techniques. Assessment and treatment practices will be consistent with the MCFD Trauma Informed Practice guidelines and the Attachment, Regulation, and Competency (ARC) Framework
- Interviews participants to gather case history information. Assesses profound social, psychological, emotional and/ behavioral issues affecting participants. Identifies core areas of concern to be addressed by clinical counselling.
- Identifies, assesses and monitors participants’ needs in conjunction with caregivers and/or other service providers.
- Provides individual, family, as well as group therapy and education groups.
- Develops and implements treatment plans and interventions.
- Provides follow-up support to participants after the end of therapy/treatment, as appropriate. Monitors and evaluates participants’ functioning and interaction with family, friends and in the community. Advises other professionals involved with participants’ cases where further evaluation or more intensive treatment is required.
- Provides consultation to those working with participant cases (social workers, probation officers, other organization staff, and professionals) and to the broader community.
- Provides required reports on participants’ behavior and progress. Maintains clinical records indicating the nature and duration of treatment.
- Maintains waitlist, including the provision of waitlist management, monthly reporting and statistical requirements as needed.
- Assesses referrals by gathering information, determining eligibility, service priorities and providing appropriate additional referral services as needed.
- Performs other related duties as required.

**Qualifications**
- 1. Education and Knowledge_
- Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work or a related field.
- 2. Training and Experience_
- Two (2) years recent related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Specialization in the treatment of trauma through basic training, continuing education or clinical experience.
