Student Housing Coordinator (Terrace Campus)

Job description and duties
- CMTN acknowledges the six _unceded_ _traditional territories its campuses reside on: Haida, Tsimshian (Ts'msyen), Nisga'a, Haisla, Gitxsan, Wet'suwet'en nations._

Duties: This position will support the mission, mandate, and goals of Student Housing. The Coordinator is responsible for monitoring student housing operations, developing and implementing the Housing Advisor (HA) program, and ensuring that student housing is a safe and clean space for students to engage and learn.

Tasks will include but are not limited to:

- Oversee student housing operations including organizing Student Housing Orientations
- Supervise and provide ongoing training and support to all Student Housing staff
- Perform room checks, investigate complaints, and enforce residence rules
- Act as the initial contact regarding concerns in student housing, taking disciplinary action when needed
- Collaborate with Student Engagement staff to organize events for students and provide students with information relating to the campus and community
- Act as primary budget officer for Student Housing budget, administer and monitor budgets, approve purchases
- All other tasks of similar scope and complexity as required

**Qualifications**:
Qualifications/Skills: A bachelor’s degree in a related field (i.e.: Hospitality, Business, Social Work) along with 3 years of work experience in post-secondary, student services, management, or hospitality.

Required skills, abilities, and knowledge includes:

- A valid unrestricted Class 4 Driver’s License (a current driver’s abstract is required)
- Demonstrated commitment to customer services excellence with the ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, and discretion with students, parents, and colleagues
- Adaptable with persuasive communication skills demonstrating the ability to earn the trust of others
- Good supervisory skills with excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Concise and detail-oriented with effective time-management skills, demonstrating the ability to manage multiple demands with varying and competing deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well collaboratively
- Excellent conflict resolution skills with the ability to defuse emotionally charged situations
