Funding Unit is part of OH Health System Performance and Accountability Portfolio (HSPA). HSPA has a mandate of enabling the Ontario healthcare system to provide high-quality, equitable care, and Funding Unit contributes to this mandate by development and implementation of funding policy and innovative funding models, aimed at leveraging funding to align with overall program goals and to drive value and performance in the system. Funding Unit is represented by a close collaboration of two interdependent teams, Modelling & Development, and Operations & Case Costing. Each of these teams is led by a Manager
- Reporting to the Manager of Case Costing, the Case Costing (CC) Team Lead will work in a dynamic environment and is responsible for leading a highly skilled team of Case Costing Specialists to deliver CC supports, benchmark reporting/analysis and best practices solutions to all Ontario Health (OH) Regions with Ontario Case Costing (OCC) facilities, various OH programs, stakeholders and potential new Case Costing Facilities.
- Working with the Costing Solution Vendor, the Team Lead is responsible for the delivery of annual case cost data submissions for over 70 Facilities. The Team Lead will be supporting/leading a provincial initiative to recruit for 20 additional case cost facilities across new sectors (with a focus on community and mental health services) in the next 5 years to enhance the current Provincial case cost data.

Here is what you will be doing:

- Working in a fast-paced environment with multiple and changing priorities, the Team Lead, Case Costing will be supporting the planning, coordination of, and delivery of multiple complex OCC projects based on high quality standards and within specified timelines.- This will be accomplished by:
Coaching staff to ensure that continuous quality improvement initiatives are incorporated into day-to-day activities.-
- Participate in various committees to support OCC work.-
- Have highly organized, detail-oriented and have excellent engagement and planning skills.-
- Provide ongoing support and effective oversight of the OCC initiative, including:- Effective maintenance of existing case costing facilities and the Implementation of new facilities to utilize case costing.-
- Monitoring and working with stakeholders to continuously improve data quality and enhance current data standards.-
- Data support (e.g. milestone reviews, data use, quality/activity reporting).-
- Data quality (e.g. adherence to standards and Ministry recommendations, data quality reviews).-
- Leverage best practices in case costing.-
- Partner with other areas of OH to provide technical support (e.g. hardware/software, database administration, data submission follow-ups).Supporting the development of a Centre of Excellence for Ontario Case Costing Initiative.-
- Provide support and consultation for queries/requests related to costing (ie case costing, micro-costing, costing infrastructure).-
- Maintain costing databases to ensure adherence to Provincial Standards or Accepted Methodologies.-
- Enhancing and maintaining knowledge of the healthcare funding programs, policies and models in Ontario (QBPs, GEM, Priority Programs etc.).-
- Having a proven track record of collaboration, the ability to utilize knowledge of provincial health system funding and case costing; the capability to manage and execute complex project deliverables on time; and as well as success with leading strong teams of experts in this area.-
- Coordinating Stakeholder engagement to ensure Data Quality, Benchmarking, Audit Reports are available to meet analytic needs and reviewed for improvements to the current system.-
- Cultivating stakeholder relationships and maintaining a strong collaborative working style will be critical success factors to this role.-
- Establishing outstanding working relationship and collaboration with team members and staff from different departments and external stakeholders and the Ministry.-
- Will lead a high performing team of assigned staff by:- Leading, coaching and mentoring team members, while ensuring individual performance/development goals are met.-
- Leading allocation of staff resources, delegating, scheduling and prioritizing of staff workloads, as required.-
- Support recruitment, retention, management and development activities for the team, with a focus on acquiring, developing and retaining talent, and in accordance with the principles embedded in Ontario Health’s Equity, Inclusion, Diversity and Anti-Racism Framework.-
- Perform cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested.- Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience- Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Informatics, Health Administration, or similar discipline.-
- Master’s strongly preferred-
- Minimum 5+ years of related experience in healthcare, including experience
