The Digital Donor Communications and Stewardship Officer creates content that drives donor engagement and stewardship by providing meaningful opportunities and communications that engage donors in fundraising prospects. They are actively engaged in curating content and profiles that showcase donor impact at Sheridan and developing content plans and strategies to produce e-newsletters, news articles, web content, digital publications, and press releases to steward donors effectively. The incumbent writes donor proposals and impact reports to cultivate new donor and supports donor engagement activities by drafting congratulatory letters, speeches, and award nominations.

This incumbent is dedicated to connecting with donors and highlighting stories and achievements with external contacts, the broader Sheridan community, and Sheridan’s internal community. The Digital Donor Communications and Stewardship Officer is responsible for maintaining relationships with graduates, donors, volunteers, faculty, staff, and students. The incumbent serves as a resource to the Sheridan community. A key component of Sheridan’s fundraising strategy is to engage prospects from our communities. The Digital Donor Communications and Stewardship Officer plays a vital role in the prospect identification and cultivation process.

**What You’ll Be Doing**
- Executing day-to-day donor engagement and communications in a way that instills pride and inspires them to give to the student experience at Sheridan.
- Maintaining a calendar of key stewardship engagement opportunities throughout the year that are essential to fulfill gift agreements.
- Editing and creating Advancement publications as required to ensure content (style, grammar, length) follows established corporate style and Canadian Press style.
- Copy edits departmental publications for factual and typographical errors and formatting inconsistencies.
- Conducting deep research and prepares nominations for high profile award nominations that celebrate alumni/donor achievement and engages with members of our communities.
- Updating database to track engagement with donors, including monitoring due dates for publications, tracking interactions with donors as materials are created.
- Attending Advancement events, when needed, to provide support during event management and to meet donors.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.

You bring proven experience as a writer and editor with an understanding of content strategy and content development using social media to amplify content.

You have a highly collaborative spirit and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with others to support establishing and achieving collective goals.

You have an ability to research and analyze complex information and think critically towards solving problems.

Your excellent written and oral communication skills allow you to elicit accurate information when conducting interviews.
- 4-year degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Creative Writing, or a related field of study
- 5 years of Intensive, comprehensive experience in writing, editing, interviewing, and managing editorial production for print and online channels, including digital publications and social media platforms (Equivalency will be considered).
- Required experience includes a writing portfolio for public audiences through online or traditional media.
- Experience researching and analyzing complex information, interviewing, and using oral communication skills is required.
- Proficiency using Adobe suite design tools and photo editing software is required.
- Minimum of three years’ experience collaborating with alumni, donor or non-profit communities is preferred, i.e., connecting with alumni/donors and building relationships via communications, public relations, and volunteer engagement.
