**The Role**:
We’re currently seeking a **Lead** **Animator** to join one of our awesome 3D productions

**Responsibilities**:

- Required to achieve a min. of 75% quota in addition to team supervision
- Lead the animation team to deliver the expected and desired performance and footage
- Evaluate Leica’s, perform shot weighting, distribute shot packages to team
- Ensure animators record and address notes using tracking software
- Communicate and set expectations for the animation team to ensure on time delivery
- Ensure and maintain the quality, style, and continuity of animation across the show
- Review the work of each animator on a regular basis and approve shots for submission to the director
- Create show-specific cycles/poses
- Conduct range of motion tests for all new character builds
- Complete assigned animation within scheduled timeframe
- Identify gaps that may exist on assigned episodes and implement solution to rectify
- Identify potential risks or issues and work on a mitigation strategy
- Anticipate, communicate, and troubleshoot any creative or technical issues with assistance from key stakeholders
- Work collaboratively as part of the senior production team
- Be a positive and creative force on the team

**Crew Management**:

- Communicate expectations to animation team while balancing creative objectives with the requirements of Production Schedule
- Oversee the daily activities of your animation team
- Provide training and guidance where needed based on procedures set out by the CG Supervisor and appropriate TD’s
- Provide performance feedback to your team and to Production
- Foster and enable communication and collaboration across departments

**Qualifications**:

- Demonstrated leadership ability
- 2+ years of experience as a senior or lead animator in the animation industry
- Proficiency with standard industry software (eg. Maya)
- Strong understanding of key-framed animation development processes, limitations and dependencies
- A strong understanding of basic human kinetics and basic real-world physics
- Understanding of rigging and modelling
- Thorough understanding of animation principles
- Strong understanding of cinematic storytelling principles and techniques
- Strong leadership, management, and organizational skills
- Excellent team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively give direction and communicate storytelling
- Identify strengths and weakness of animation team
- Remain flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs of production
- Ability to set priorities for yourself and others, as well as manage the progress of work
- Proactive work ethic, capable problem solver with the ability to implement solutions
- Able to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently
- Must be open to direction and able to embrace change
