**Position Title**: Atlantic Communications Intern
**Region**: Atlantic
The Atlantic region’s communications intern will assist the communications department with several tasks, ranging from researching and writing stories aimed at NCC donors and supporters across the country, along with photo research and archiving, supporting events, and other communications-related activities.
**Specific Responsibilities**
- Source and draft stories for NCC’s digital and print publications;
- Assist in editing and proofreading stories for digital and print publications;
- If video editing skills are present, create short videos for use on web and social media;
- If design skills are present, create designed materials as needed;
- Develop new website content;
- Edit and update website information;
- Upload images to the NCC image database and tag themappropriately, including a back catalog;
- Assist with the coordination, planning, and promotion of events;
- Assist the Communications team with ongoing activities as needed.
**Skills and Abilities**
- This posting is targeted to students possessing the following skills:
- Excellent writing skills, with an aptitude for identifying and telling persuasive stories;
- Ability to work independently and in team environments;
- Experience editing, proofreading, and fact-checking;
- Experience and understanding of digital communications platforms including social media, website, and e-newsletters;
- Organized, attention to detail;
- Effective communication skills, including ability to interact with the public to convey a conservation message;
- Design, multimedia, and other creative skills an asset;
- An interest in nature, conservation and wildlife an asset.
**Terms of Employment**
- Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment;
- Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations;
- Full-time, 16-week (May 8 - August 25) position;
- Wage is $18/hour (37.5 hours/week);
- This position is based in NS, NB, PEI, or NL
