**Role Responsibilities**:

The Health Information Act (HIA) Policy, Privacy, & Security Unit is looking for an experienced information policy and governance advisor to support protecting health information while sharing information for improved health service delivery.

You will be responsible for providing guidance on information sharing priorities and where necessary work to develop implementation strategies. You will consult and provide policy advice and direction with internal and broad external stakeholders on matters related to information and data sharing within the health sector for broader purposes.

**Responsibilities**:

- Development of policies at the provincial level to support the health sector.
- Provides coordination and support functions for the Health Information and Data Governance Committee and other health information policy and data stewardship governance activities and associated working groups.
- Providing support and policy guidance on research and use of health information beyond the provision of care. Support appropriate legislative and policy changes to HIA and its Regulations related to information sharing / data sharing initiatives.

**Minimum Recruitment Standards (MRS)**:
**University graduation **in a related field (Social Science, Health Policy, Law, Health, Health Sciences, Health Administration, Library and Information Science or related discipline is required) and a minimum of** four (4)** years of progressively

responsible related experience is required; or equivalent as described below.

**Required experience includes**:

- **Policy focused roles, including policy analysis, development, and review.**
- **Working with legislation related to information sharing and/or information privacy**

**Equivalency**: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

Related experience:

- Policy analysis and project development
- Experience working within the health sector with legislation and policy research and development
- Proven ability to establish positive working relationships with a broad variety of clients
- Demonstrated success in managing complex issues within short timelines.
- Strategic, analytical and conceptual thinker with exceptional writing ability.
- Good knowledge of general and health-specific access and privacy legislation and principles and applicable policy in Alberta
