**POSITION PURPOSE**:
This role is responsible for leading the delivery of Compensation programs, including the day-to-day direction of the Compensation team, participating in developing and implementing compensation strategies, initiatives, and policy enhancements; providing expert advice and guidance to management and to the People, Equity, and Culture (PEC) team regarding compensation, job evaluation, and various compensation programs and policies; overseeing and improving efficiencies of related processes and procedures, and ensuring programs are supportive of corporate objectives and reflective of industry best practices and legislative requirements.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provides recommendations to ensure competitive positioning of the Region’s Compensation programs.
- Leads the identification of compensation process redesign opportunities, process efficiency enhancements, and the development of recommendations and action plans.
- Participates in the development and implementation of the compensation strategy involving the identification, assessment, and development of programs; maintains compensation tools, systems, and processes to administer policies, procedures/guidelines and salary information, ensuring compliance and defensibility of programs.
- Oversees and leads the job review process for both union (including the Joint Job Evaluation Committee) and non-union jobs, including reviewing practices and processes, development of job descriptions, classifications, and compensation guidelines etc.
- Proactively identifies compensation issues and proposes solutions including process documentation and the development of communication to inform stakeholders of program and/or process changes.
- Evaluates programs, plan design, and processes by reviewing metrics, executing surveys, reviewing best practices, monitoring legislative landscape, and conducting needs analyses, making appropriate changes to processes and procedures where appropriate to ensure alignment with business strategy and compliance with legislative requirements.
- Applies analytics and reporting to programs to enhance effectiveness, efficiency, improvement and standardization of compensation processes and tools.
- Develops comprehensive reports to support the introduction of new programs or revisions to existing programs for management.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Successful completion of a University Degree Human Resources or related field, or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum five (5) years experience in a related role including demonstrated compensation experience in a multi-disciplinary and multi-union organization and/or public sector environment and a minimum of one (1) year of direct supervisory experience.
- Designation as CCP required, possibly supported by CHRL designation.
- Demonstrated experience leading projects and large initiatives as well as designing processes and programs.
- Demonstrated consulting, facilitation and advisory skills and ability to successfully promote new concepts and ideas.
- Demonstrated experience with PeopleSoft HR Management Systems or other ERP human resource management systems.
- Experience in change management and/or employee practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, build and manage a team.
