**Position Summary**:
The Terminal Manager directs all warehouse activities ensuring high levels of customer service, efficiency, productivity, and safety. The Terminal Manager is responsible for achieving the operational and financial goals/objectives set out by Head Office. They will plan, direct, and coordinate all activities related to shipping, to achieve company objectives, at the highest possible efficiency and quality level, capturing available cost saving opportunities.

**Position Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for running the day-to-day operations.
- Keeps President and COO informed of current operations status through regular communications and by issuing periodic reports.
- Ensures that all policies, procedures, and controls are followed and that reports are completed accurately, submitted on time and to appropriate departments, customers and other designated personnel, and that appropriate staff and labour have a full understanding of these procedures.
- Ensures that workload is managed effectively and manages performance and skill development of all employees.
- Pro-actively identify and communicate operational and logístical issues, propose, and implement solutions targeted continuous improvement regarding overall operations.
- Identify staffing needs and any related employment issues in the terminal.
- Develops, communicates, and maintains operating and administrative procedures (consistent with area procedures and objectives designed to provide required information and facilitate internal practices).
- Supports sales and marketing goals by participating in sales activities including new business development, ensuring long term customer contracts.
- Provide data-based recommendations to balance cost and service considerations while proposing unique and effective solutions to improve client satisfaction.
- Provide guidance in the execution employee training programs and on-boarding new hires.
- Cross trained to cover all other warehouse responsibilities as required.
- Performs all other duties as required by management.
- Ensures that accident prevention/safety and worker’s compensation programs and procedures are implemented, and that all employees are trained and managed effectively.
- Observe standards for safe working conditions as outlined in the Canada Labour Code.
- Actively participates in accident/incident investigations; identifies & corrects unsafe acts or conditions; conducts staff meetings.
- Ability to effectively lead a team, delegate, supervise functions and keep employees motivated.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to solve crisis.
- Knowledge of safety standards and accident investigation.

**Position Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in related field is a strong asset.
- Minimum of 5(+) years of progressive management experience in the transportation industry.
- Working knowledge of budgeting and profit loss management.
- Ability to listen and provide effective and timely feedback.
- Ability to communicate with others and assimilate and understand information to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.

Willing to commute to Different Speedy Transport Terminals during training.
