**Description**
As Shelter Team Support your primary role is to provide trauma informed, strength based, relationship focused, and youth centred support to the residents of SCP's shelter. You will supervise, engage with, and make sure the needs of the youth are met. Reporting on youth progress and administration is required. You will work closely with the Case Managers and Case Workers to ensure that deliverables are met. In the Team Support role you will be responsible for supporting and implementing case management plans, assisting with programming development and delivery, supporting/assisting youth with activities of daily living and life skill development, and modelling/championing positive relationships and healthy choices. Before the end of your shift you are responsible for documenting all pertinent information and communicating pressing concerns to the case management team.
**Requirements**:
- **An UNRESTRICTED SASKATCHEWAN driver’s licence**
- **Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance**
- The ability to remain calm in escalated/crisis situations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge and experience in:
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Working with an Indigenous population
- Working with vulnerable populations with challenging behaviours
- Working with youth with varying abilities, cognitive impairments, & developmental delays
- Working with youth currently or previously having experienced exploitation
- Working with youth struggling with substance misuse or addictions
- Working with youth currently or previously gang affiliated
- Youth centred philosophy, trauma informed care, & strength based approaches
- Administration and documentation
- Mac Computers, Microsoft Office, Google Drive
- Preference will be given to applicants with:
- Conflict Resolution, Crisis Intervention, & DPVS
- ASIST, Mental Health First Aid, & Suicide Prevention Training
- CPR/First-Aid (B), Water Safety, & Food Safe
**Duties & Responsibilities**
**Casework & Youth Support**
- Provide positive role-modelling and mentoring in one-on-one and group settings
- Help create, implement, review and carry out individual Action Plans for youth
- Support youth in meeting individual needs (eg: school, home, community, health)
- Support youth with appointments including health, education, court appointments etc. (Including scheduling, reminding, transporting, and accompanying when appropriate)
- Advocate for the youth in the community
- Mediate between youth when conflicts arise
- Support community and cultural connection
- Facilitate recreational outings
- Uphold boundaries and consequences for youth and ensure consistent follow-through
- Additional youth support duties as assigned by the case management team
**Administration & Documentation**
- Report daily on programming and individual progress via journals and case notes
- Completing all logs and designated documentation before end of **EVERY** shift
- Casenotes
- Communication Logs
- Incident & Disclosure Reports
- Communicate with case management team
- Incidents & Disclosures
- Youth whereabouts as needed
- Any additional pertinent information or emergent situations
- Maintain a working knowledge of current Agency procedures and guidelines
- Other administrative tasks as assigned by the case management team
