**What is a Weld Lead?**

Lead Weld is a working lead position where they operate and monitor a variety of welding machinery and tools for the purpose of production. Additionally, the Lead will support the work of the welding team employee’s performance.

***What We’re Looking For**

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Schedule all parts, components, and weld subassemblies for production.
- Interpret specifications or get clarification from engineering when necessary.
- Implement and enforce safety policies, safety procedures, standards and rules of the Company.
- Effectively direct and provide qualified support to all weld procedures and operations performed that include, but are not limited to MIG, TIG, and Stick.
- Confirm quality of welding procedures and processes to ensure smooth transition to paint/sandblast department/assembly.
- Utilize small and large tools, hoists, dollies, and other devices when necessary.
- Support the welding team daily while also cross interacting and supporting alternate department leaders.
- Strong knowledge of welding symbols and procedures. Ability to lead a team of welders but also support production needs as necessary.
- Comply with all safety procedures in each area assigned, including but not limited to, wearing protective clothing, special handling of chemicals, special handling of product, safety/rescue equipment usage, etc.
- Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the Company, as well as suppliers, customers and peers effectively.
- Comply with policies, procedures, standards, and rules of the Company.
- Maintain quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
- Maintain work area in a clean, orderly, and safe manner.
- Punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

**Required Experience and Education**
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- CWB ticket highly preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and speak in Standard English is required.
- Minimum of five (5) years welding experience, three (3) of which must be in a supervisor or lead capacity required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of fitter-welder experience required.
- The ability to interpret engineered drawings/blueprints is required.
- Jib/overhead crane certification preferred.
- Must have basic tools/toolbox.
- Forklift certification required.
- Ability to handle complex projects and tasks independently within established standards.
- Ability to plan and schedule the work of others.
- Ability to coach and motivate employees, interpret and communicate company goals, policies and procedures to employees.

**Physical and Technical Environment**
- Must regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds, using proper lifting techniques or other available resources such as lifting or moving equipment or help from another employee.
- Required to wear impact goggles, face shield and hearing protection when using hand held grinders.
- Ability to routinely travel throughout multi-floor office and shop area, walking, climbing stairs.
- Regularly required to walk or stand, bend or twist, climb, reach with hands or arms.
- Specific vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Clean and orderly manufacturing environment, some exposure to electrical and mechanical hazards.
- Overtime required at periodic intervals to respond to project deadlines.
- Exposure to noise, dust, heat and cold on a regular basis.
- Exposure to machine and tool hazards requiring care and attention to safety rules and standards.
