**Position Summary**
NanoVation Therapeutics (NTx) is looking for an innovative and collaborative **Scientist, Formulation **to join our Vancouver, BC team.
Reporting to the CSO, the **Scientist, Formulation **will work closely with the Formulation Team and will be responsible for designing and executing protocols related to internal and client-based projects, and subsequent data analysis.
**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:
**Formulation Research**
- Executes formulation research in support of our research goals and plans.
- Establishes new formulation capabilities based on literature review.
- Performs experiments and conducts activities in support of pharmaceutical formulation, analytical development and characterization and performance testing of pharmaceutical formulations.
- Generates, analyzes, tabulates data and results, writes/reviews reports and recommendations.
- Follows SOPs, generates and maintains thorough and accurate documentation in support of SOPs.
- Assists in weekly management of in vivo research including ordering, tracking and study logistics.
- Meets deadlines and timeframes established.
- Communicates challenges openly for solutions.
**Project Teamwork**
- Leads and helps guide project teamwork.
- Provides oversight and technical support to other project teams.
- Prepares and executes internal project plans, timelines, and budgets.
- Prepares and reviews study reports and technical presentations for internal use and for clients.
- Collaborates and interacts with partners, and other groups/departments in the organization on related projects to develop, characterize and test formulations.
**Innovation**
- Proactively conducts relevant scientific literature searches for designing new experiments.
- Establishes new capabilities based on literature review.
- Identifies novel research opportunities.
- Develops patentable ideas.
**Advisor**
- Acts as an expert advisor and provides hands-on support to technical staff and other project teams to resolve complex technical problems.
- Manages our preclinical research ethics protocols and approval requirements.
**Mentors and Supervises Team Members**
- Develops the scientific team through mentoring and providing guidance to assigned projects.
- Provides regular constructive feedback.
- Meets 1:1 with team members to provide ongoing support and development.
- Ensures experiments/work is being conducted efficiently and accurately.
- Regularly updates the team.
- Additional responsibilities, as required.
**Education & Experience Required**:
- PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry or a Life Sciences discipline, and 5+ years of related progressive scientific experience, or the equivalent education and experience.
- Expertise in a broad range of formulation technologies with particular emphasis on nano-and microparticle-based drug delivery approaches applied to all classes of therapeutics (small molecule APIs, peptides, proteins and nucleic-acid based).
- Expert knowledge in all areas of preclinical drug development with a focus on drug delivery-based development approaches including (a) Lipid
- and non-lipid-based drug delivery and conventional formulation approaches, (b) Physicochemical characterization of drugs and formulations, (c) Analytical techniques such as HPLC, (d) Formulation scale-up and (e) Preclinical testing of drug formulations.
