Our leading program focuses on a potassium channel modulator currently in clinical trials for various indications. Following promising outcomes from previous studies, we are preparing to initiate further clinical trials aimed at expanding our therapeutic offerings.
Position Overview:
We are on the lookout for a Senior Scientist, CMC, Drug Product to join our innovative team. The successful candidate will take charge of developing appropriate formulations for the in vivo evaluation of novel compounds emerging from our Discovery team. Furthermore, this role involves supporting the physicochemical characterization of selected compounds for subsequent clinical development. This is a hands-on position that requires laboratory work and team management.
This role reports to the Senior Director, CMC, Drug Product. The level of the position will align with the candidate's educational background and industry experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Discovery and Toxicology teams to lead the formulation development for preclinical assessments of selected compounds.
- Work closely with CMC Analytical Development to ensure the availability of essential preformulation and characterization data to inform formulation strategies.
- Engage with various colleagues within the CMC Department to ensure cohesive project advancement.
- Prepare formulation development documentation to support regulatory and business initiatives.
- Organize and maintain internal records, protocols, and reports efficiently.
- Utilize external resources as necessary to facilitate the development of preclinical formulations.
- Maintain detailed records of experiments and data analysis using an Electronic Lab Notebook system.
- Promote and adhere to laboratory safety protocols.
- Ensure a safe and organized laboratory environment while following Health & Safety guidelines.
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate team members in accordance with company policies.
- Uphold company policies, including the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Occasional international travel may be required.
Qualifications:
- PhD in organic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, pharmaceutics, or related fields.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector, specifically in formulation development for small molecules.
- Experience in developing spray-dried dispersion formulations for preclinical assessments is advantageous.
- Prior experience in mentoring and leading junior scientists is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
