The Indigenous Guardianship and Permanency Team is an established group dedicated to advocating for Indigenous equality and integrity. Our team has the honour and privilege of working with Indigenous communities on the səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem), q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), qiqéyt (Qayqayt) territories, engaging in meaningful ways that honour truth-telling, community wisdom, and culture. We collaborate with community partners, provincial, federal, and non-governmental agencies to enhance service delivery, ensure child safety and meet the needs of Indigenous children, youth, and families.
Our team of five dedicated Guardianship Workers, supported by a skilled Roots Practitioner, is at the heart of our commitment to child safety and family support. We work closely with the local Indigenous community and various support services, both on Lands and within the broader community, to provide comprehensive care. By collaborating with these essential partners, we ensure that children and their families receive the support they need, with a focus on cultural respect and inclusivity. **The Role**
In this role, you will deliver a broad range of guardianship and permanency based services, supervise and guide a team who provide guardianship services for Indigenous communities/families, and manage the multidisciplinary approach to ministry programs and services in accordance with legislation and policies. You will ensure culturally safe and trauma-informed practices that support and honour Indigenous peoples’ cultural systems. **Qualifications**
**Education and Experience Requirements**:
Applicants may be considered who meet the preferred OR expanded credentials and experience requirements.
**1. Preferred Credentials**:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care **OR** Master's Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare **OR**:
- In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA) **OR**:
- **NOTE**: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- At least two (2) years of job-specific work experience.
- Three (3) or more months experience supervising staff, obtained within the last five (5) years.
**2. Expanded Credentials**:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field **OR** Bachelor’s Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services field **OR** Master’s level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field **AFTER** the completion of an unrelated Bachelor’s Degree.
- **NOTE**: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- Minimum one (1) year of related work experience and at least two (2) years of job-specific work experience **OR** At least three (3) years of job-specific work experience.
- Three (3) or more months experience supervising staff, obtained within the last five (5) years
**Human Services fields include**:Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology or Nursing.
**Preference may be given to applicants with the following**:
- Preferred education credentials **AND/OR** in-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who hold a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA).
- Six (6) or more months experience acting in a Team Leader role, or
