**The Opportunity**

As a Wildlife Management Technician (WMT), you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring the safety of aircraft and passengers at YVR. Imagine spending your shifts driving on the airfield, taxiways, and runways, identifying hazardous wildlife species, and using an array of tools—including pyrotechnics, falconry, and drones—to mitigate risks. You’ll collaborate with a dedicated team, YVR staff, and NavCanada, making real-time decisions that protect lives.

**What You’ll Do**
- **Patrol & Protect**: Drive in the airside environment, maintain situational awareness, and deploy wildlife dispersal tools to minimize hazards.
- **Innovate & Adapt**: Use pyrotechnics, falconry birds, canines, drones, and more to manage wildlife.
- **Monitor & Report**: Identify wildlife, collect data, complete activity reports, and respond to wildlife strikes.
- **Maintain & Manage**: Keep company vehicles and equipment in top shape, ensuring safety and readiness.

- **Experienced with Wildlife**: You have experience in animal training, hunting, trapping, birdwatching, or wildlife identification.

**Must-Haves**
- **Driver’s License**: A valid BC Class 5 license or North American equivalent, with a clean driving record.
- **Firearms Certification**: A valid Firearms Possession and Acquisition - unrestricted certificate (PAL).
- **Hunter Licence**: Completion of the CORE Training course and possession of a BC Hunter licence.
- **Communication Skills**: Fluency in English and a Radiotelephone Restricted Operator’s Certificate - Aeronautical.
- **Clean Record**: Ability to pass an Enhanced Background Check by Transport Canada.
- **Eligibility**: Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident, legally eligible to work in Canada.
