The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is responsible for regulating the alcohol, gaming and horse racing sectors and cannabis retail in Ontario in accordance with the principles of honesty and integrity, and in the public interest.
- Provide strong people leadership, coaching and oversight to the Finance ERP Project team.
- Decide on the best business practices on the setup of ERP solution for Finance using expertise in the areas of finance, procurement, and financial information systems.
- Utilize strong financial and accounting knowledge to connect the needs of the AGCO’s accounting, financial, planning and budgeting with the capabilities of the ERP solution and proposes adequate solutions.
- Oversee the testing of procured ERP as it relates to finance to ensure organizational objectives and regulatory requirements are met.
- Provide financial expertise and procurement knowledge to ensure that the implemented solution enables and facilitates internal/external audits of AGCO.
- Lead the team to identify and critically analyze misalignment issues between current business requirement/processes and the audit requirements.
- Oversee the assessment of post-implementation outcomes and inter-dependencies and develops mitigation strategies.
- Provide strategic direction in working groups to respond to audit findings or recommendations.
- University degree supplemented by a Canadian professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA, CGA, CMA, CA) and 7+ years of professional financial experience (e.g., reporting, analysis, planning, and costing).
- Experience in leading and managing a team.
- Working knowledge of financial systems, preferably in public sector.
- Experience working with the Ontario Government Integrated Financial Information System (IFIS).
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Knowledge of the legislative framework, OPS Directives, Policies, Practices, OPS financial analysis, budget management and administration principles, practices, and processes.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS), as well as directives, modern controllership policies, risk management, and best practices in these areas.
- Good understanding of the procurement principles and practices and their impact and connection to the financial system.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, research and project management skills.
- Superior communication, consultation, influence, collaboration, presentation, interpersonal, and writing skills.
