The Opportunity

Are you an accounting / finance graduate or recent CPA with a passion for process improvement? Vermilion is #hiring a Finance Analyst This is an exciting opportunity to join our Financial Reporting team, responsible for performing various accounting and external reporting duties for Vermilion Energy Inc. and its subsidiaries, from the Corporate Head Office in Calgary.

You will build on your existing technical accounting, financial analysis, and excel skills, while gaining exposure to SAP and cloud-based financial reporting software. You will report the financial and operating results of a publicly-traded company with international operations. You will join a team that values its people and provides work with purpose.

What you will do- Help your team prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements in compliance with IFRS, the quarterly Management Discussion & Analysis, and Annual Information Form- Prepare financial reporting entries and support working papers, including the fair value of derivative contracts, lease accounting, and share-based compensation- Record treasury entries including banking, foreign currency, interest, intercompany loan, equity-funding, and other financial transactions- Maintain the monthly reconciliation and analysis of bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts- Assist with technical accounting research and implementation of new accounting policies- Complete project work, including process improvement and other duties as assigned

What you will bring- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a CPA designation or current enrollment in the CPA program- Relevant firm or industry experience in a financial reporting capacity; upstream oil and gas industry experience would be considered an asset- Proficiency in Microsoft excel- Experience with accounting or consolidation software would be an asset- Knowledge and experience working with internal controls within a SOX environment would be an asset
