**Overview**
Reporting to the Controller, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions of the designated companies in the SM2 group. The Financial Analyst will create value by presenting the financial status of the companies assigned in a timely manner and finding opportunities for improvement. To be successful, the Financial Analyst should have a strong understanding of accounting principles, be a critical thinker and a savvy user of Excel and Word as well a fast learner of accounting and other software.

**Duties**
- Book journal entries for month end close
- Handle different modules as required, including but not limited to:

- Intercompany
- Treasury
- Fixed Assets
- Fleet Management
- Analyze, reconcile, and investigate key accounts
- Prepare monthly financial statements of assigned companies
- Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process
- Assist in the yearly audit/review engagements
- Prepare and file monthly GST returns
- Liaise with CRA and Auditors when required
- Train and supervise junior accountants
- Assist in Processing Payroll of over 140 employees through a third-party vendor (Payworks)
- Assist the Controller and Accounting Team in ad-hoc projects as required

**Requirements**:

- Accounting or Finance-related degree
- CPA Designation or close to completion
- Experience in Xero Accounting software is an asset
- Experience with Payworks is an asset
- 5+ years’ solid experience in financial reporting
