**Position Summary**:
The Assistant Branch Manager is jointly responsible, with the Branch Manager, for the day-to-day operations and overall success of the Branch. The Assistant Branch Manager must be able to effectively maintain operations in absence of the Branch Manager including the ability to effectively communicate and delegate to the Branch Staff as well as manage and prioritize customer requirements.

Customer Service:
- Follows Turkstra's approach to world class customer service.
- Advises customers by providing proficient knowledge of products and services; using resources where required.
- Seeks to earn 100% of the customer's business (100% wallet share).
- Effectively processes special orders (from simple to complex).
- Uses people skills to effectively manage difficult customers, problems and complaints.
- Develops relationships with Vendors and acts as a primary contact for merchandising material. (Level 2)
- Develop rapport with customers, becoming a 'key contact' for account customers. (Level 3)
Daily Operations:
- Ensures that store shelves are being stocked and that any holes or gaps in inventory are noted for re-order to the appropriate people.
- Responsible for overseeing branch appearance according to Turkstra standards.
- Helps to sustain branch morale by contributing to a positive team environment within the Branch and throughout the company.
- Ensures that product price tags are kept up to date and that price changes are completed in a timely manner according to purchasing communiques.
- Operates as a keyholder to the branch. Responsible for opening and closing the facility as well as after hours alarm calls.
- Assists Management team with Inventory including stock adjustments, negative inventory reports and receiving product. (Level 2)
- Maintains Build-It-Better Centre and other in-store displays. (Level 2)
- Oversees building maintenance activities (office equipment, washrooms, etc.). (Level 3)
Business Objectives:
- Works together within the management team to help the Branch achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Promotes the Turkstra Mill, Truss Plant, Lawson Lumber, and the Design Centre as part of our complete company offering.
- Supports the Turkstra Lumber Build-It-Better program.
- Participates in social media opportunities and assists the Marketing Team by providing relevant content for web and social media.
- Assists Management team to ensure reduction of shrinkage year-on-year and limit possible areas of theft in the store.
- Ensures clearance is properly merchandised to sell quickly and update sections and bin tags accordingly.
- Ensures Endcaps and display areas are kept 'fresh' and well merchandised to encourage sales of slower moving products.
- Encourages Turkstra Lumber Recycling programs including cardboard, plastics and Lumber Tarps. (Level 2)
Hire, Train and Retain:
- Manages employees through coaching an corrective counselling.
- Ensures day to day tasks are being distributed to teammates through effective and consistent delegation.
- Follows company procedure for employee accidents including paperwork and notification.
- Aids in overseeing appropriate training of staff - current and new. (Level 3)
- Assists the Branch Manager in conducting performance reviews. (Level 3)
- Develops training and development plans for all Customer Service Professional staff to encourage advancement where possible. (Level 4)
Administration and Financial Objectives:
- Assists the Branch Manager in creating monthly staff schedules. (Level 2)
- Assists the Branch Manager in the responsibility of Accounts Receivables. (Level 2)
- Assists the Branch Manager with APPO reporting to purchasing department in a timely fashion. (Level 2)
- Assists the Branch Manager in completing weekly timesheets. (Level 3)
- Assists in setting targets for Sales and Gross Margin Key Performance Indicators. (Level 4)
- Supports the Regional Sales team by providing leads, opportunities and contacts. (Level 4)
