**What is the opportunity?**

The Advisor for Business Continuity Management (BCM) is the first line of defense for Functions, and is responsible to recommend changes to the recovery strategies for the Business and Functional Groups. Assist Group Risk Management (GRM) in identifying and mitigating operational risk and support the Business Segment or Geographical Unit, ensuring RBC Businesses meet the maximum level of preparedness, conforming to RBC BCM Standards for Incident Management and Business Continuity Planning (BCP). Supports business recovery strategies and co-ordinates tactical planning and activities.

**What will you do?**
- Responsibility for the Business Continuity Management (BCM) Plan Development/Maintenance, to implement appropriate BCM contingency plans and associated controls
- Prepare business lines for potential disruption through communication and reporting processes re: Incident Management, Business Continuity and Recovery Strategy within area(s) of responsibility
- Coordinates tactical activities of BCM including:

- Complete Business Impact Assessments (BIA) to understand the impact of process failures
- Remain apprised of environmental and potential business-impacting BCM related risks
- Conducts BCM exercises to validate planning assumptions and test controls (including work area recovery, contact exercises and simulations as required)
- Advise and recommend on continuity strategies in the identification of risks, the determination of risk tolerances, the selection of appropriate recovery strategies
- Ensures all Business Continuity Plans conform with Enterprise BCM standards
- Provide analysis and insights on function specific KRI’s to support management reporting and investigate and resolve deficiencies
- Partnering with EBCM Centralized team, Regional and Business Line Executive to create, coordinate and maintain a multi-discipline Incident Management Team to provide a resilient response to incidents
- Track outstanding audit items or regulatory findings relative to the respective business lines, as they relate to BCM, assuring established timelines are met
- Secretary to the Business Line(s) Regional Incident Management Team, maintaining a working relationship/liaison with other Crisis Management Teams
- Support business change initiatives as it relates to BCM, including completion of associated BIA, BCP and required recovery testing

**What do you need to succeed?**

**Must-have**
- 3+ years Business Continuity Risk Management experience within a financial services environment, conducting risk and control assessment / process reviews, and/or key controls assessments (monitoring/testing), in a combination of knowledge, skill and background in operational risk practices, audit or compliance functions, and/or one or more businesses.
- Professionalism and solutions orientation required to liaise directly with Senior Management with different lines of business.
- Previous experience working in highly regulated business environments.
- Strong communication, interpersonal (verbal and written) and presentation skills.

**Nice-to-have**
- ABCP, CBCP, University degree, or equivalent, or relevant professional qualification.

**Job Summary**

Applies experience and seasoned knowledge, skills, and practices to perform a variety of assignments.
