We currently have a **Regular **Full-time** opportunity for a **Manager** on the **Biological Sciences **department at **Bayview.**

**Hours of Work**:Weekdays: Days; 8 hours; as per schedule;

**Summary of Duties**:
Reporting to the Platform Director Biological Science, Sunnybrook Research Institute, the Platform Manager provides support to the management of the platform and acts as a general resource to the Biological Sciences scientists and their research groups. This support would include responsibility for the program budget, human resources functions and office administration.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for the platform core budget (i.e., forecasts, monitors variances, initiates/reviews disbursements and recoveries, and troubleshoots).
- Liaises with the Manager, Research Grant Accounts and Research Accounting Department regarding grant accounting (i.e., initiates salary recoveries and resolves discrepancies).
- Liaises with Research Administration regarding contract administration.
- Guides scientific and research staff on human resource issues and liaises with the Human Resources Department.
- Collaborates with HR Business Partner in developing the Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) for hiring of foreign nationals; interprets the Immigration Law to ensure the process compliance: completes random employer compliance audits for Service Canada
- Utilizes the SAP system for retrieval of financial data for analyses and reconciliation
- Reviews and authorizes the payment of invoices pertaining to supplies, equipment, services, furniture, equipment and hardware in accordance with platform priorities
- Oversees and directs administrative assistants within the platform.
- Responsible and accountable for the quality of service provided by administrative staff and monitors and balances their workload.
- Formulates job descriptions as required and coordinates the hiring, evaluation and termination of administrative staff, research staff and students.
- Maintains Biological Sciences Human Resources database and Platform files.
- Reviews and approves Dimensions Timesheets for core platform staff.
- Establish and implement administrative policies and procedures to support the operations of the Platform
- Ensures effective coordination and facilitation of Platform activities.
- Works cooperatively and constructively with scientists, staff as well as SRI employees.
- Manages conflict between staff members; plays an intermediary role between scientist and lab staff to resolve disagreements or issues.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Undergraduate degree and relevant experience or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to work with a minimum of direct supervision.
- Exercises good judgment and initiative in decision-making.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to support the composition of correspondence.
- Superior organizational skills and be able to work on multiple projects.
- Must be very adept at exercising tact and discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential issues
- Competent in Microsoft Office, adobe software
- Competent in or willing to learn Dimensions payroll, Concur Financial system, UKG Dimensions, Human Resources and Payroll policies, Immigration - LMIA-exempt policies or equivalents.
