**Start Date**:June 2023

**Salary**:This position can be part-time or full-time (between 22-40 hrs/week), with a term ending March 2024 and a possibility of extension to September 2024. Starting annual salary for full-time position is $61,210.48 (for a 40-hour work week). Part-time salary will be adjusted according to weekly hours.

**Who We Are**:
STEP requires an organized individual with multi-tasking capabilities and outstanding communication skills to join our team as a Regional Employment Placement Specialist (REPS) in our **Cranbrook** location.

The REPS will take a lead role in recruitment, assessment, skills development, and job placement of individuals aspiring to careers in the construction skilled trades. The REPS will develop and maintain relationships with participants, training providers, community organizations, and potential employers in the assigned geographical area. Through these connections, the REPS will assist participants and employers to bridge employment needs and alleviate barriers to fulfill employment opportunities in the construction trades sector.

The REPS will be working independently and reporting to the Director of Workforce Development at another location. This position requires self-initiative and discipline to achieve program targets.

**Primary Duties**:

- Establish and maintain relationships with secondary and post-secondary educational institutions, community organizations, and local service providers connected to the construction industry
- Provide program presentations to various stakeholders
- Meet with potential participants and gather information on skills, experience etc. to determine program eligibility/suitability
- Help individuals create an action plan focused on employment / apprenticeship in the construction trades
- Provide soft skills coaching to help participants be successful in the workplace
- Liaise between employers and workers to assure a positive work site match, perform site visits as needed
- Manage participant files according to program requirements and deliverables
- Complete and submit all required reporting documents per program requirements
- Track and follow up on all action items related to the program’s delivery

**Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities, and Attitude**:

- Adaptability and flexibility
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking
- Self-motivation, discipline, and reliability, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a province-wide team
- Effective organizational, multitasking, and time management skills
- Strong working knowledge of the local skilled trades / construction industry, employment trends, and key projects within the region
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Journeyperson certification, apprenticeship, or extensive experience in a trades related field is an asset, but not required
- Understanding of the BC apprenticeship system (SkilledTradesBC) is an asset
- Knowledge of local employment service providers is an asset
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and vehicle; this position does require travel for meetings, conferences, and community outreach
