**Accountability Statement**

The Assistant Manager of Addiction & Trauma Services (ATS) works in collaboration with the Manager of ATS to oversee the day-to-day operations of the department. This includes, but is not limited to coaching and mentoring the ATS Team. He/she is accountable for the development and maintenance of mutually beneficial relationships with community partners.

The Assistant Manager of ATS is responsible for assisting the Manager of ATS in the development, supervision, implementation & evaluation of Clinical Services for the Programs.

He/She will supervise and manage the provision of Clinical Services for The Ottawa Mission ensuring consistency with the policies and standards of the organization.

The Assistant Manager of ATS will have a case load of addiction clients and deliver group sessions.

He/she assumes a leadership role in the absence of the Manager of ATS.

**Scope & Dimension**

The Assistant Manager of ATS does not have direct responsibility for budget management.

The Assistant Manager of ATS shares the responsibility of staff management with the Manager of ATS for the guidance and coaching of ATS employees across the continuum of ATS programs; Program Coordinators,
Addiction Counsellors, Trauma Counsellors, Support Counsellors. He/she provides managerial direction and leadership to these individuals by providing knowledge and problem solving when needed.

The Assistant Manager of ATS, under the direction of the Manager of ATS, will assist in the developing and implementation of the ATS components of The Ottawa Mission’s Strategic Plan. He/she must be aware of the accountability framework structure that will evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of programs, their service components and impact on the clients, other departments and the community.

The Assistant Manager of ATS is a team-oriented person, responsible for building and fostering solid relationships, networking opportunities and communication strategies both internally within The Ottawa Mission and externally with the community at large.

The Assistant Manager of ATS solves problems by considering courses of action within a framework of existing policies, procedures and standards. He/she knows what needs to be accomplished but must decide how to accomplish it by considering many different procedures and/or standards. He/she may consider which among several procedures to follow and in what order to achieve results. He/she mainly deals with program issues or problems that arise within the ATS department and the solutions may require some research and consultation with the Manager of ATS. He/she develops and recommends alternatives within defined objectives. Management direction is provided.

There is periodic review of the Assistant Manager of ATS’s work and the processes they follow. Primary limitations on the freedom to act due to existing Ottawa Mission and Legislated policies and procedures. The Assistant
Manager of ATS should have a clear sense of what needs to be achieved in the week to come. He/she may have input into the annual plan for the department.

**Major Responsibilities**

- Participate as part of the Management Team, lead by example and reflect the values of The Ottawa Mission
- In the absence of the Manager of ATS, attend and actively contribute in management or organizational meetings and forums
- Participate in special assignments or projects as directed by the Manager of ATS/Senior Management
- Promote and ensure adherence of Human Resources and Ottawa Mission policies and procedure, including health and safety and diversity in the workplace, with direct staff and assist in ensuring they fulfill their requirements for annual compliance training
- Assist in fostering a team environment by providing new employees with department level orientation, supporting direct staff in the identification of learning and development needs/opportunities and regularly meeting with them to discuss department initiatives and general organizational happenings
- Staying up-to-date on formal and informal industry trends on education, certification, etc.
- Assisting the Manager of ATS by offering input for the annual performance review for all ATS staff.
